POSITION OBJECTIVE


Working to promote Bethesda's values, vision and mission statement and quality client care, Bethesda's Adult Clinical Services require one (1) Full-Time Psychometrist.


Reporting to the Adult Clinical Manager, the role of the Psychometrist is to conduct psychometric assessments to adults age 18 or older.

This position will be located in Thorold but travel to Hamilton, Haldimand, Norfolk, Niagara and Brant regions will be required.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Administer psychometric testing, scoring of tests and analysis of test data which will involve participation in team assessments with other disciplines and in consultation with the Psychologist.
  • Collaborate with other members of the team in providing comprehensive assessments and effective interventions and recommendations. A familiarity with the regional network of therapeutic and assessment services would be helpful.
  • Responsible for setting appointments, documenting all contacts, determining appropriate location of the evaluation, choosing the appropriate measures and contacting persons as needed to answer the question posed.
  • Meet with the client, referring party and others as needed to review the findings and to clarify the implications of the test findings. Assist with the implementation of the recommendations, as needed.
  • Participate in learning opportunities and be open to new methodologies to provide outstanding client care. and be required to keep up to date with new assessment tools.
  • Attend conferences and workshops related to the position and field of work.
  • Maintaining client records and relevant file work (i.e. closing summaries, summary of service plans, contact notes, consent forms, etc.)
  • Prepare reports and all other related paperwork for each client.
  • Complete intakes and interviews.
  • Assistance in implementing some of the recommendations made.
  • Participate in educational opportunities and professional development by developing and presenting workshops on topics related to the field.
  • Provide training and support to coop students, new staff.
  • Comply with Bethesda policies and procedures relating to health and safety.
  • Responsible for reporting all health and safety concerns immediately following the Internal Responsibility System.
  • Perform administrative tasks as required including documentation and resource development.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor or Masters Degree in Psychology.
  • Minimum of three (3) year (Bachelor) or five (5) year (Masters) related experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities and developmental disabilities.
  • Knowledge base will encompass a wide field, including intellectual development, test administration and interpretation, abnormal psychology and mental health issues, behavior modification principles and some counseling techniques.
  • Experience working within a multi disciplinary team.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • First Aid Training and CPR Certification preferred.
  • Safety Care certified preferred.
  • Professional Communication Skills: professionally represents the company through strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Teamwork: excels at working with others and communicating with a team to provide the most effective support to clients.
  • Problem-Solving: able to navigate challenges and barriers, always looks for potential pitfalls and risks to help mitigate problems ahead of time, and knows when to ask for help.
  • Proactive: anticipates and solves problems and issues before they are brought to your attention.
  • Fluent in French an asset.
