Key Responsibilities:Reporting to the Manager, EDI, the Gender Based and Sexual Violence Prevention and Education Coordinator (GBSV Coordinator) will contribute to creating a safe and positive space where members of the NAIT community are able to work, learn, and express themselves in an environment free from Gender Based and Sexual Violence (GBSV).

The Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and evaluating resources, outreach and educational programs, and initiatives that increase the NAIT community's awareness of GBSV, including how to support survivors of GBSV, the role they play in preventing GBSV, and how NAIT responds to disclosures of GBSV.

The Coordinator will conduct an analysis of NAIT's current GBSV prevention, education, and response processes and provide recommendations for improvement and future investment.

The Coordinator will also contribute to projects that support the strategic priorities of the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and Global Education and Partnerships.


Key Responsibilities include:

  • Program Planning and Delivery
  • Coordinate and/or develop and facilitate professional development workshops, learning opportunities, and resources that equip staff and students to prevent GBSV, to respond to disclosures, and support survivors of GBSV.


  • Collaboration and Partnership

  • Foster positive working relationships with areas directly involved in GBSV collaborated response, including but not limited to: Wellbeing, NAIT Protective Services, Human Resources, Transition Services, NAITSA, the Student Resolution Office, and other Edmontonarea PSIs
  • OEDI Projects and Initiatives
  • Support programs and events offered by the Office of Equity, Diversity and Global Education and Partnerships.

Skills & Abilities:


  • Exceptional workshop development, facilitation (inperson and online) and evaluation skills, including developing and measuring learning outcomes and objective
  • Able to interact with people who are resistant to change, especially related to advancing equity, diversity and inclusion
  • Able to deal with sensitive and/or confidential information in a professional manner
  • Strong presentation, communication, and public speaking skills
  • Working knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada as it pertains to sexual violence, and applicable NAIT strategies, policies, and procedures
  • Able to work with crosscampus partners, staff, administration, and outside agencies
  • Able to synthesize information and develop innovative solutions to problems
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a changing work environment
  • Computer skills, including familiarity with PeopleSoft and Microsoft Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in a field of study related to psychology, social work, gender studies, education, human ecology, equity, human rights, diversity and inclusion, and experience providing adult education. A Master's degree would be an asset.
  • Significant related professional experience will also be considered.
  • Experience in the development, delivery, and evaluation of antiGBSV violence education, awareness, and prevention programming
  • Experience working with survivors and alleged perpetrators from a traumainformed, anticolonial, antioppressive lens.

Remuneration:
$2, $3,109.48 bi-weekly, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification - Coordinator 1)

  • This position is covered by the AUPE (Alberta Union of Provincial Employees) Collective Agreement._
