Companion Construction is a growing commercial construction management, general contracting, and project management firm. We specialize in commercial new construction, mass timber buildings, and tenant improvements.Duties to include:
- Liaising with owners and design representatives to establish accurate scope of work
- Producing scope documents for subcontractors
- Create an estimate checklist to determine required trades for the project.
- Site evaluation and planning with subcontractors and suppliers
- Review and qualify trade / vendor quotes against project scope and update project estimate
- Distribution of tender documentation and receipt/review of bids
- Determining and implementing material procurement from suppliers
- Producing a project schedule for review by the owner and subcontractors
- Procuring any necessary permits and approvals for the project
- Implementing planning for occupied space work including access requirements, dust/infection control measures & security of owner premises
- Supervision of work to ensure compliance with design intent and quality control
- Management of changes as per owner requests & necessary design alterations. Work to include securing pricing for changes, providing contemplated change requests to the owner & preparation/distribution of change orders to subcontractors & suppliers
- Establishing and implementing project closeout procedures including inspections, deficiency makegood coordination and final owner approval
Prerequisites for this position:
- A minimum of 5 years related experience in the construction industry mandatory
- Ability to read and understand construction design and specification documentation mandatory
- Ability to adequately communicate both verbally and electronically mandatory
- Computer skills proficiency mandatory
- Class 5 Driver's License with a good driving record with your own vehicle
- Trade Qualification or Equivalency preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Shadowing project managers daily activities
- Assist with any small tasks that the project managers may have
- Assist in preparation of project schedules
- Assist in preparation of project plans
- Review project plans, specifications and comment on possible schedule issues and constructability problems
- Establish plan for interfacing of trade sections
- Review budget for general conditions
- Assist with contacting, scheduling and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and utilities, at request for project managers
- Assist with monitoring and maintaining the project schedule on a weekly basis
- Inform the project manager of any errors, discrepancies or omissions contained within consultant design drawings and specifications
- Review site safety plan and liaise with the Construction Safety Officer to ensure a safe site
- Assist with coordinating and monitoring all independent testing and inspections as required
- Assist with coordinating all required land survey operations and maintain a proper record of survey information
- Maintain and enforce good construction standards and quality control
- Assist with maintaining control of security operations on site
- Assist with monitoring labour, material, and equipment expenses
- Assist in the preparation of monthly cost report projections
- Assist with coordinating any required municipal inspections
- Review and distribute, as required, all inspection reports from AHJ and consultants
- Assist with maintaining and coordinating all project deficiency lists
- Liaise with owner representatives during any site visits or direct site communication with the project manager
- Attend and maintain weekly trade coordination meetings
- Attend weekly managers meetings at the office
