    About the Opportunity

    QEII New Generation is an initiative to realign care and services from the aging Victoria and Centennial buildings on the Victoria General Site of the QEII Health Sciences Centre. It is not just about infrastructure, but will examine how the services should be delivered for the people of Nova Scotia over the next 20-30 years. It includes multiple sub-projects including renovations and new construction at: the Halifax Infirmary, the Victoria General site, Dartmouth General Hospital, Hants Community Hospital, a new Community Outpatient Centre in Bayers Lake, as well as new developments at the Halifax Infirmary Site, which include a new inpatient tower, new ambulatory care and cancer care buildings. As part of this work, the QEII Health Sciences Centre's tertiary, quaternary care and research and academic mandates all need to be addressed in the planning, design and construction phases.

    The complex, multi-site, multi-project, and multi-phased nature of the overall project, and the complex environment within which the work is being planned and implemented combine to form a high risk situation in which effective engagement, well thought-through functional planning, thorough operational readiness planning and strong transition management are very important activities to mitigate many types of risk.

    Reporting to the Director, Clinical Planning - QEII New Generation, the Industrial Engineer provides leadership to care and service teams to minimize the impact and maximize the benefits of the QEII New Generation by researching, designing, developing and evaluating effective and efficient solutions to process and system design challenges involving patients, physicians, staff, equipment, technology and organizational structure. Expertise in the performance improvement methodologies, project management and change management techniques applied to solving complex problems is at the core of the Industrial Engineers' role. In addition to design, these skills will be fully utilized in managing projects through implementation to full operational capability.

    By facilitating conversations that inspire critical, innovative thinking and yield valuable business/operational insights, the industrial engineer supports operational leaders in identifying strategic improvement opportunities, informing optimal design and equipment/technology selections, and identifying/managing impacts of changes presented by redevelopment initiatives.

    About You

    We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

    • Undergraduate Degree in Industrial Engineering from a recognized University required
    • Minimum three (3) years' experience in Industrial Engineering required
    • Must be registered with Engineers Nova Scotia and be licensed as a P.Eng or EIT or be eligible to do so
    • Appropriate licensure/membership in professional organizations
    • Master's level preparation in Health Services Administration, Business Administration or a related program an asset
    • Project Management Professional certification an asset
    • Change Management Certification (i.e. Prosci ADKAR) an asset
    • Experience in major hospital redevelopment project an asset
    • Certified Health Executive is an asset
    • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

    Hours

    • Long-assignment full-time (100%) position; 75 hours bi-weekly
    • Start date as soon as possible, with an expected end date of May 31, 2029.

    Compensation and Benefits

    $ $53.67 Hourly
