This is a 1-Year Term Position
UWinnipeg's English Language Program (ELP) delivers high quality programming to international and domestic students seeking to enhance their English proficiency.
Responsibilities:
Management and Program Development:
- Acts as a liaison between UWinnipeg ELP and partner universities.
- Creates and submits reports to partner universities on student status.
- Responsible for planning, assessing, evaluating and implementing new courses and programs to meet current needs of various international partners and markets.
- Keeps abreast of new developments that relate to the program, function or area.
- Analyzes enrolment data to predict trends and identify areas for development.
- Oversees curriculum development and assessment tools for new courses.
- Ensures that all programs meet current guidelines.
- Reviews program and course outlines, maintains records.
- Provides research, development, interpretation and implementation on policies, procedures and regulations related to ELP courses, resolves exceptions to rules in consultation with the Director.
- Assesses and evaluates policy recommendations for current and potential issues.
- Recommends changes in program structure, policies and course content.
- Oversees assessment of students for acceptance into new programs.
- Responsible for ongoing program evaluation.
- Monitors fulfillment of conditions for the completion of a course or certificate program.
- Supports human resource management of customized program staff and ELP instructional staff in areas of hiring and performance review.
Business Development:
- Maintains external contacts to identify potential partners and/or areas for program development.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining effective working relationships with local partner organizations and partner universities and agencies.
- Oversees the development of marketing materials.
- Researches new markets and marketspecific strategies.
- Engages in publicity and community outreach through participation and speaking at workshops and conferences as well as participating on committees.
- May engage in recruitment missions to overseas destinations.
Budget Control and Analysis:
- Monitors overall budget involved with customized programs.
- Analyzes program budgets and makes changes in program planning as needed.
- Responsible for the preparation of detailed, regular reporting to identify the financial performance and projection of new programs.
Instruction, Special Projects and Committees:
- Delivers courses or workshops in line with the overall goals of the program.
- Participates in committees in the field of Teaching English as an Additional Language and International Education.
- Attends conferences in TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) and International Education.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in a related discipline ( M.Ed. or M.A. preferred )
- TESL Certificate level 2 or equivalent
- Five years of directly related experience in administering, teaching and managing a wide range of ability levels in English (beginner to advanced), including three years of successful relevant administrative/supervisory experience.
- Management, leadership and coordination experience in an educational setting; successful supervisory experience.
- Experience monitoring, analyzing and preparing budgets.
- Highly efficient and effective oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability of strong writing and editing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiating and conflictresolution tact and diplomacy skills to deal effectively with a wide variety of situations.
- Excellent networking and relationship building skills to be executed in a variety of international environments.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at one time.
- Ability to take initiative and work with limited direction.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in managing risk and in identifying and evaluating opportunities.
- Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs and issues of a diverse student body.
- Familiarity with Language Programs and International Education.
An equivalent combination of education, experience, skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered.
Condition(s) of Employment:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Able to work some evenings and weekends when travel is necessary.
The salary range for this position will be from $67,373 to $85,345 annually.

The work described in this posting will be conducted in-person.
