What You'll Do:


As an Interconnection Manager for our US and Canada Development team, you will ensure the establishment of an overarching strategy with the goal of achieving the timely grid connection of NPI's pipeline of projects according to the requirements for wind, solar, and energy storage projects.

As a crucial member of the team, you will also ensure key external stakeholder relationships are managed appropriately, including active engagement with the ISOs/RTOs, local TOs, and any other regulatory body relevant to the grid connection and transmission assets.

Some regional travel for meetings with utilities, ISOs, and Northland's development team will be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overall accountability for the delivery of the grid connection package, including the grid connection agreement and grid code compliance, as well as the interaction with the ISO and local TO.
  • Provide project management for the entire interconnection process from initial siting considerations through to energization.
  • Represent Northland in relevant technical industry working groups.
  • Lead the grid connection activities and ensure the timely delivery of information required.
  • Develop Capex and Opex budgets for the grid connection package in support of the overall project.
  • Provide oversight/supervision of the management of all external contracts when required.
  • Monitor development of grid connection requirements as well as potential grid connection points in areas of interest for NPI; engaged in identifying new greenfield opportunities
  • Maintain effective and systematic planning and control of project activities regarding grid connection and grid code compliance. Ensuring control of the budget, deadlines, and quality aspect, as well as assessment of contractors/subcontractors involved in the project; Produce monthly reports as necessary during the course of the project.

  • Strong communicator: You have exceptional oral and written communication skills and are able to convey your message in a clear and concise manner.
Qualifications and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience working with an ISO/TO, developer or consultancy company on interconnection requests and processes for renewable energy generators.
  • Demonstrated understanding of all phases of an interconnection process for ISOs/RTOs and previous experience with project siting from an interconnection, congestion, and grid capacity perspective.
  • Ability to manage technical consultants and review power system modelling outputs and reports.
  • Working knowledge of electrical system design/study/analysis processes and techniques.
  • Knowledge of the standards associated with electrical system design and grid connection of renewable energy generators in the US.
