Edelman Global Advisory is a recently launched standalone international advisory firm within the Edelman network that owns the firm's public affairs work.

We have rebranded public affairs to advisory to better capture the evolution and future of this sector.

Advisory service combines business strategy, government affairs, corporate social responsibility and sustainability, and political risk analysis to help clients navigate changing political dynamics.

Our mission is to build trust in today's evolving geopolitical environment.


Joining the EGA team will provide team members with the opportunity to be involved in the building of this new firm from creating a new culture, to redefining public affairs services, to exploring new services, such as data analytics and political risk analysis.

We view ourselves as a start-up built on top of one of the world's most recognizable brands.

  • This position will be based in the Edelman Ottawa office and will report to the Managing Director, Defence and Security.

Position Overview


Vice Presidents are responsible for client management including strategy support, production of client deliverables and monitoring and analyzing regional issues.

VPs will identify and oversee business development by overseeing and providing input on the production of decks and materials to present to potential clients.

VPs will be responsible for providing intelligence and analysis on market developments.

VPs will build and maintain a current network of contacts in the government, business, civil society and among other key stakeholders.


Responsibilities:


  • Support Business Development:
o Contribute to building a new pipeline for the Defence and Security Practice

  • Contribute to developing new leads for new clients
  • Create decks and materials to support Business Development
- o Market Intelligence:


  • Responsible for providing data and analysis on market developments and trends
  • Client Work:
o Provide Capture Strategy support to clients for their programs
- o Provide analysis and intelligence to clients as required and requested
- o Project management and implementation
- o Production of client deliverables

**Basic Qualifications and Requirements
At least7-10 years of experience in government, NGO or private firm leading work related to military procurement and government acquisition, in addition to

o Baccalaureate Degree or equivalent experience

o Strong, respected relationships within at least one component of the Military community
- o Experience with federal government budget, investment, and acquisition processes
- o Has a strong understanding of the Canadian military procurement environment
- o Strong business acumen and proven business development experience
- o Some political experience welcome
- o Excellent writing and PowerPoint skills
- o Proactive approach, a willingness to take initiative and support the full team to drive business growth and results and anticipates what's next to get ahead of issues and capitalize on new opportunities.

o Ability to work effectively with dynamic teams and across offices and geographies

o Bilingualism an asset but not mandatory


Tailored scope of work

  • Support the growth and development of new business and expansion of EGA through the successful understanding, drafting and execution of RFPs
o Direct support to the Managing Director Defense and Security,

o Support deliverables of key clients based on pursuit and capture plans
- o Proactively identify new business opportunities.
- o Perform market research to qualify new business opportunities, through the analysis of customer budgets, capabilities required, current customer preferences, competitive environment assessments, and incumbent strengths and weaknesses.
- o Coordinate and conduct meetings with customers, competitors, clients, and teammates to develop market insight on requirements, acquisition strategy, acquisition timing, and contract vehicle choices.
- o Work with program and management team in call plan development and execution; and provide detailed reports on follow up activities after plan execution.
- o Serve as Capture Manager for selected opportunities, either all the way to award or in the early capture phase.
- o Collaborate with Edelman
  • Executives, key team members, capture and line management to support cross enterprise objectives and customer engagement.
- o Support overall strategic planning and linking pursuits/capture activities which support the business development metrics for awards, submits, and pipeline.
- o Interact routinely with various levels of management, functional leads, other staff, and customers.
- o Brief business development status to senior management when material changes occur and as required.
- o A technical understanding of integrated systems
