The position would be up to 10 hours per week for one year with a possibility of renewal, starting July 1, 2023.

While training and onboarding take place in person in July, the job is a mix of in-person and remote work throughout the year.

The position consists of support with the three portfolios for student support: SKILLSETS, SKILLS21, and Our Shared Spaces. Student Assistants are expected to work across all three portfolios.

The roles and duties of a Student Assistant will vary with portfolio and project requirements; this could include:

  • Designing and delivering workshops and other teaching and learning support activities (e.g., panels, webinars, resources)
  • Maintaining effective communication with portfolio managers and other Student Assistants
  • Participating in training and relevant professional development activities
  • Organizing and coordinating onetime events or semesterlong programs
  • Contributing to communications and program promotion via web and social media channels
  • Communicating with stakeholders (i.e., University partners, speakers and/or participants)
  • Gathering and summarizing information used for planning and evaluation (e.g. interviews, surveys)
  • Preparing project documents and reports

Skills/abilities:

  • Excellent oral, written, and visual communication and presentation skills
  • Teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to take initiative and display leadership skills
  • Strong organization, time management, and ability to prioritize
  • Strong information literacy skills (i.e., ability to define research terms, search online databases, journals, websites, amalgamate information, and critically evaluate resources)
  • Ability to work with Office 365 (e.g., Teams, PowerPoint, Excel), Zoom, and social media platforms
  • Experience and/or interest working in the domain of diversity, social equity and teaching and learning is an asset
  • Fluency in languages other than English is an asset

Salary:
Undergraduate student - $18/h; Master's student - $20/h; PhD student - $23/h + 4% vacation indemnity

Work hours:
