Description

About Western:

Since 1878, Western University has been committed to serving our communities through the pursuit of academic excellence and by providing students, faculty, and community members with life-long opportunities for intellectual, social, and cultural growth.

We seek excellent students, faculty, and staff to join us in what has become known as the "Western Experience" - an opportunity to contribute to a better world through the development of new knowledge, new abilities, new connections, and new ways to make a difference.

About Us:

The Office of Institutional Planning & Budgeting (IPB) is responsible for the management and coordination of the University's planning and budgeting processes, and provides statistical, analytical, institutional research, and administrative support to the University's Executive Officers and senior Senate and Board of Governors committees in planning, budgeting, and policy matters.

IPB is responsible for gathering documentation to support Western's submission for the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings. This submission documents Western's efforts to support sustainable development on campus.

In 2015, the United Nations and its member states signed the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development - a call to action to meet some of the most pressing challenges facing our world.

The specific challenges and objectives committed to, are defined in 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which offer a plan for promoting and achieving sustainability in areas such as the environment, access to food, gender equality, and healthy and safe communities.

With a focus on creating and disseminating knowledge, universities have an important role to play in responding to and addressing the challenges that are set out in the Sustainable Development Goals.

Western is committed to sustainability in all its forms and is prepared to play a leading role in areas such as the eradication of extreme poverty and promoting equality.

As well, we will continue our work on sustainability in the areas of research, teaching the SDGs, stewardship, and collaboration within the broader community.

Since 2019, the annual Times Higher Education Impact Rankings have assessed the quality and scale of a university's performance against the SDGs.

To this end, we are hiring a summer student to work with our existing team to collect, analyze, and verify data related to research, teaching, stewardship, and collaboration at Western as it relates to the SDGs.

The position will commence as soon as possible.
