Production Paint Stripping (PPS) is a leading provider of paint stripping and metal cleaning services, having serviced the automotive and aerospace industries of southern Ontario for 30 years.

PPS operates paint stripping facilities in Ontario and the United States.

We are looking for a motivated Night Shift Supervisor to join our team.

The incumbent's primary objectives will be to ensure production schedules are met produce while maintaining high-quality product in a safe, timely and cost-efficient manner.

Primary Duties

Specific to Production

  • Conducts preshift meetings and shift change reviews to discuss work orders and process instructions that your staff will be undertaking that day, along with any safety or quality issues that need discussed.
  • Exercises supervisory control and direction over the company's day to day production activities.
  • Ensures that work instructions are followed and that the operators have received the proper training with respect to work instructions, quality requirements and safety items.
  • Analyzes and resolves production and human resource issues for staff and collaborates with the Human Resources Manager and Plant Manager as necessary.
  • Ensures plant efficiency is maintained at the highest level, without sacrificing safety or quality and makes recommendations to improve productivity, safety and quality.
  • Operates the wastewater treatment system according to training and procedure, taking responsibility for the quality of the effluent to meet municipal guidelines through visual and quantitative testing.
  • Maintains good communication with employees to increase productivity creating a teamoriented atmosphere.
  • Completes all administrative tasks including the review of your staff's time sheets, machine/chemical cost collection, shift change review etc.
  • Ensures and enforces safe working procedures and good housekeeping practices.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
Additional Duties

Specific to Shipping and Receiving

  • Oversees the shipment/receiving of customer/supplier product as per PPS training.
  • Keeps the shipping/receiving area organized in a manner that facilitates access and identification.
  • Assists with coordinating customer transportation orders and ensures accurate entry of customer work orders and packing slips in PPS' systems.
  • Perform quality inspections and reports findings/discrepancies in order information vs customer administrative requirements to the Plant Manager.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, is preferred.
  • Post-Secondary education in a related field is a plus.
  • 25 years of experience in industrial cleaning industry or automotive industry as a supervisor is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and organizational skills.
  • Able to work safely and efficiently.
  • Forklift license is a plus.
  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office Applications.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift heavy packages (up to 50 pounds) as needed.
  • Ability to maintain a consistent workload that involves physical manual labor.
  • Ability to maintain alertness and fitness for duty.
  • Ability to position oneself for work conducted in and around confined spaces.
  • Ability to wear as PPE as mandated.

Compensation

  • Competitive pay.
  • Overtime after 44 hours.
  • Shift premium for afternoons and midnights.
