We are searching for a Recreation Facilitator for our summer 2023 season.

The ideal candidiate will support the planning and delivery of recreation programs (including our summer camps), services and events for our busy community recreation centre and will ensure programs and services are delivered in a safe and successful manner.

This is a full-time, temporary position with anticipated scheduling from May 25, 2023 to August 25, 2023.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Plan and lead programs and supports services and events assigned
  • Prepare long range and short range plans for assigned programs
  • Ensuring required supplies and equipment are available
  • Purchasing supplies as required within budget parameters
  • Completing participation and attendance records, weekly and daily checklists as required
  • Maintaining a professional appearance and wear the designated uniform while on duty
  • Attending team meetings, training sessions and planning sessions as required
  • Performsing other duties as assigned by the Recreation Program Coordinator
  • Assisting in the maintenance and cleanliness of the recreation program spaces, equipment and supply storage areas.
  • Enforcing safety rules and initiates emergency response procedures
  • Receiving and responding to feedback from the customers and staff
  • Interacting with program participants and facility members and guests
  • Creatingan inviting environment by welcoming members and guests

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:


  • Postsecondary education in Recreation, Social Work, Early Child Education or other related field of study
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and diplomacy skills
  • Ability to work evening and weekend scheduling is a strong asset.
  • Experience in any of the following fields would be considered an asset: tutoring, dance instruction, activities for seniors, family events, child minding, PD Day, and camp programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively
  • Enthusiasm and passion for people with a focus on customer service
  • Demonstrated creative problem solving and ability to maintain a high level of leadership skills
  • Flexible and highly organized with superior conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • Must be willing and able to provide a valid and clean Criminal Background Check for working with the Vulnerable Sector.

WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Occasional overtime may be required to meet deadlines.
  • Evening and weekend scheduled may be required.
  • Competing demands may create stress.
  • Potential exposure to heat due to working outdoors
  • Physical effort is medium
