Vancouver Talmud Torah is hiring a Building Facilities Manager

The Building Facilities Manager will oversee and supervise the continuous and safe operating condition of the facility, equipment and services of this facility which comprises a mix of older and newer buildings located in Vancouver.


General Duties:

  • Establish, review, oversee and document the ongoing maintenance of the facilities and mechanical systems throughout the organization and its property to include but not be exclusive to: electrical panels and lighting both inside the building and on its exterior systems, heating and cooling (HVAC) systems, alarms, elevator inspections, plumbing roof maintenance, security and safety systems;
  • Review building systems and ensure that regular scheduled inspections take place;
  • Maintain a list of authorized service companies that would be available to service the needs of the systems in the building and the surrounding property of the school;
  • Be the contact person to meet with serving companies to ensure that the appropriate work is described, done and inspected for completeness;
  • Maintain and schedule fire equipment inspections (alarms, extinguishers and sprinkler systems), arrange for an annual fire equipment inspection as required by law, and test any systems as required;
  • Ensure that necessary janitorial supplies are ordered, stocked in the appropriate janitorial areas, and reordered in a timely manner;
  • Inspect and maintain the garbage and recycling station on a daily basis and assume responsibility for the removal of cardboard and recycled items from the property weekly;
  • Work with Senior management on the implementation of all drills and health and safety protocols;
  • Support operational requests including all school events
  • Ad hoc projects as required.

Custodial:

  • Oversee and manage the custodial team and assign duties as required for all custodial staff
  • Oversee the work of the custodial team to ensure quality and ultimately the maintenance of a clean facility;
  • Ensure the custodial team maintains and is in good standing with all required certifications (i.e. WHMIS)

Vendors:

  • Responsible for after hour operations as it relates to the usage of the premises
