Compensation Range

Job Summary


They will have the ability to assess and implement work required to achieve objectives, strong organizational skills, diplomacy and the ability to provide leadership in creating positive and supportive work environments.

The incumbent will work with leadership and faculty to develop infrastructure systems of support in all areas of administration, policy and procedure interpretation, proposal and other resources to support faculty and other research units in their work.


The incumbent is required to develop, foster and maintain excellent relationships, both internal and external to FoM and the University.

This position acts as the administrative representative for the Office of Research, contributing to FoM, UBC units and partner organizations through participation in various committees, working groups, meetings and projects.

The Faculty — comprised of approximately 2,200 administrative support, technical/research and management and professional staff, as well approximately 650 full-time academic and 8,500 clinical faculty members — is composed of 19 academic basic science and/or clinical departments, 3 schools, and 25 research centres and institutes.

Together with its University and Health Authority partners, the Faculty delivers innovative programs and conducts research in the areas of health and life sciences.

Faculty, staff and trainees are located at university campuses, clinical academic campuses in hospital settings and other regionally based centres across the province.


This position reports to the Senior Manager, Research Programs and Services, and may also receive broad guidance from the Senior Director, Research and Vice Dean, Research, FoM.

Internally within FoM, the incumbent will also develop, foster and maintain highly functional collaborations with the Directors and senior administrators of FoM Research Centre and Institutes, the Heads, Directors, and senior administrators in the Departments and Schools, as well as other administrative units within the FoM External to the FoM, this position will also establish productive relationships with staff at the Office of Research Services (ORS), Support Programs to Advance Research Capacity (SPARC), the University-Industry Liaison Office (UILO), and other units within the Office of the Vice-President Research & International (VPRI).

External to the University, the incumbent may also liaise and build collaborations with partners in the health authorities as well as other universities.

Work Performed

Research Grant Application Facilitator

  • Identify funding sources and formulate budgets to ensure that all funding agency and university requirements are met.
  • Review applicants for eligibility, coordinate signatories, and ensure all documentation is complete.
  • Monitor, identify and disseminate information about RFA's (Requests for Applications), PA's (Program Announcements), and funding opportunities from various agencies.
Data Management

  • Develops research funding data report in support of the academic (i.e. internal and external) reviews of FoM Research Centres and Institutes, as well as Departments and Schools
  • Supports the FoM Leadership in their requests for data and analyses. Researches, identifies, recommends and analyzes all appropriate data sources, ensuring data integrity and quality, to respond to research requests and create tailored analytical reports.
Research Advising

  • Provides advice, guidance, and ensures compliance with both UBC and FoM policies, procedures, and guidelines,
