TO Live has a full-time opportunity in its Development and Sponsorship Department in the role of Director, Government Relations. We are looking for a talented relationship builder to join our team.
TO Live is one of Canada's largest multi-art organizations, we are the team behind three iconic venues: Meridian Hall, St.
Lawrence Centre, and Meridian Arts Centre.On a day-to-day basis you will get to be behind the scenes of iconic performances in the making, meet the artists and creators shaping the city's art scene and play a pivotal role in the pandemic recovery of the performance arts sector.
Summary of the Employment Opportunity
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Government Relations
- Develop comprehensive strategies focused on the overall advocacy activities of the organization.
- Consult with government officials and stakeholders to exchange information, prepare deliverables, and coordinate meetings.
- Conduct Government Relations in a way that is, at all times, nonpartisan.
Policy
Corporate Engagement & Business Development
- Collaborate with the CEO, VP Development and various departments including, Marketing and Communications, STLC Redevelopment and Programming to support their government relations and advocacy initiatives as they relate to Live's corporate business in their government relations and advocacy initiatives.
- Develop personalized strategies to proactively highlight opportunities where TO Live's government relations can support TO Live's priorities.
Proposals, Marketing & Communications
- Write proposals, media, and other communications materials, including speeches for the CEO and other leadership including board and TO Live Foundation
- Support materials aimed at advancing the broader policy, revenue generation and financial goals of the organization.
Skills & Experience Required
- Network of contacts at all orders of government including elected representatives and members of the civil service, and understanding of stakeholders, issues, and relevant policy landscape
- Awareness of grants and foundations in the arts and culture sector
- Clear communicator with strong writing and editing skills. Comfortable with group presentations.
- Strong verbal communicator that is adept at relationship management
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and streamline operations.
- Elevated level of accuracy and mindfulness
- Tact, diplomacy, and sound judgment
- A university degree from an accredited institution
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of web (WordPress, HTML, CSS) and web design tools (Photoshop and InDesign primarily) is an asset.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Flexibility in hours includes occasional work on evenings and weekends as required.
- Lack of natural light in workplace.
- Travel between TO Live venues as required.
THE ORGANIZATION:
TO Live is one of Canada's largest multi-arts organizations, operating three iconic venues: Meridian Hall, the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts and Meridian Arts Centre.
In addition, TO Live presents a full range of performing arts, theatrical and concert events at these venues in both downtown and uptown Toronto.
