The Live-In Treatment program (Youth Addictions) helps young men and their families find healthy, long-term coping solutions that empower them to build wholistic futures.

_Ray of Hope is currently seeking 2 Part-Time Youth Addiction Workers to join our team at our Live-In Treatment facility._

_Schedule is a 2-week rotation: every other Saturday and Sunday from 8am - 4pm_

_Start dates:
April 2 or April 8_


Overview:

The Youth Addiction Worker works directly with the youth in the residential program.

You will provide individual counseling and life skills training, plan and participate in recreational, community service, and some educational activities.

You will participate in treatment planning and implementation in conjunction with the Case Management Coordinator, Program Manager and Program Director.

This position requires shift work.


Specific Responsibilities:


  • Implement individual interventions and group programs developed by the treatment team
  • Collaborate with participants to generate participantcentred, strengthbased change strategies, reflecting evidenced based practices and individual scope of practice
  • Actively participate in treatment plan development for each participant to ensure professional service delivery
  • Provide individual counselling, and life skills coaching to all participants as needed
  • May provide psychotherapy only if registered with a College that allows for the practice of psychotherapy
  • Consult regularly with the team regarding participants' progress
  • Support treatment and intervention functions as assigned including:
  • Preparation and/or participation in service plans
  • Support participants in visit and safety planning
  • Develop discharge plans in consultation with the team, participants, their families and other professional supporters
  • Respond to participant requests and crises in a responsible, timely and flexible manner.
  • Develop crisis and safety plans, independently and in consultation with team and oversee their implementation
  • Develop and cofacilitate psychoeducational groups, as well as life skills training

General Program Responsibilities:


  • Supervise all activities and develop and participate in recreational activities with participants
  • Fulfill shift duties as assigned, and in accordance with YSS policies and procedures
  • Maintain current and accurate confidential records in participant files, communication logbook, incident reports, and other required documentation
  • Supervise medication use by participants, and document as per policies
  • Provide support, and tutoring where appropriate, related to the educational program
  • Participate with all other staff in maintaining the safety, security and cleanliness of the program area
  • Complete regular program related duties and routines as required per shift
  • Follow the policies and procedures of YSS and ROH (Ray of Hope) and consult with the team as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by the team

Qualifications:


Education:


  • Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to psychotherapy
OR

  • College diploma (two or three years/postdiploma) in a field relevant to psychotherapy (e.g., Addiction Counselling, Child & Youth Work, Social Service Worker)

Experience:


  • Experience with providing treatment to individuals (youth preferred) related to addiction, trauma, moderate mental health challenges

Certifications (ongoing training will be provided):

  • Standard First Aid and CPR Level C +AED
  • Crisis intervention technique training NVCI
  • Safe Food Handling is an asset

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities to be successful in this position:

Requirements:


  • Vulnerable Sector Check/Police Check
  • Valid, unrestricted Class "G" Driver's licence
  • Ministry of Transportation Drivers Abstract
  • Employment Health Assessment Form including immunization record and fitness assessment

Physical Demands:
