Overview

The Drafting Supervisor is responsible for the drafting, accuracy of information provided, and timely delivery of finished drawings on all production drawings submitted to external customers and both precast and hollow core plants.

The incumbent is also required to review and advise on details and methods of production and installation to maximize efficiency.

Must be also proficient in drafting standards and methods.

Responsibilities

  • Marketing and Customer Relations
  • Establish working relationship with outside drafting sources as a resource
  • Provide Drafting schedules and completion dates
  • Maintain customer (Consultants, General Contractors and Project Owners) communications ensuring project requirements are met.
  • Provide assistance to Marketing and Sales Department in the planning of a project that requires specific and/or specialized input.
  • Establish relationships and network with customers
  • Develop the knowledge and expertise in the Drafting Department
Human Resources

  • Oversee objectives, evaluate and review performance for all reports in the drafting department
  • Responsible for the daily operation of the Winnipeg Precast Drafting Department.
  • The incumbent works directly with the project manager, precast engineer, CAD technicians, and project coordinator and plant supervisors.
  • Direct and assist in the training and experiences of the CAD Technicians.
  • Participate in regular team meetings
  • Provide safety awareness
  • Planning
  • Supervise and direct daily tasks for the CAD staff
  • Plan material usage for ongoing efficiency.
  • Technical/Operations
  • Provide CAD expertise and give directions to CAD technicians
  • Establish and maintain drafting standards, practices and procedures.
  • Provide technical support to the precast plants, to estimating, and to members of the precast team.
  • Maintain drafting office documentation (drafting manuals) and responsible to ensure that documents are properly archived.
  • Structural and Building construction knowledge
  • Keep informed about material developments and construction concepts.
Specific Accountabilities

  • The accuracy of drawings for production and construction
  • Qualification Profile
  • Engineering technology diploma or degree or demonstrated equivalent qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years' experience.
  • Excellence drafting skills using AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of Revit is an asset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of industrial and commercial building construction practices.
  • Good organization and planning skills.
  • Practical experience in managing contracts and projects.
  • Strong team player with a positive attitude.
  • Preemployment medical including drug & alcohol testing and a criminal record check may be required.
