Sales and Service Associate


The incumbent is responsible to provide customer service and assist the Full Time Sales Associate in the day-to-day operations of the Campus Stores.

The responsibilities include providing customer service, opening, closing, receiving duties and maintenance of store merchandise at any of the 3 campus store locations depending on where they are scheduled.

Duties also include operation of the Bookware POS, assisting with handling of incoming shipments of merchandise, text books and materials including stocking shelves and merchandising.


This position also supports the Buy the Book operations when required which includes, but not limited, to the smooth and efficient processing of all incoming Web orders for textbooks/courseware, and/or any other merchandise as required by customers, in a timely fashion.


Responsibilities:

The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to the following:

Receiving Duties

  • Confirm cost and selling prices are correct, matching Bookware memos to vendor invoices.
  • Ensure proper discounts codes are applied to items
  • Receiving and unpacking all incoming UPS, truck freight and parcel post deliveries to the Bookstore/Campus store
  • Checks textbooks for damage, verifies the accuracy of the order and make sure the ISBN are matched with the invoice.
  • Returns books to the publisher as directed by buyers which are damaged, unsold, unordered or for classes that have been cancelled; cleans and prepares books for shipping.
  • Deliver all received goods to either Campus Store or Book Store.

Customer Service Duties
Responsible to provide excellent customer service and follow up with any resulting customer issues or concerns


This includes:

  • Acknowledging customers and being available for inquiries
  • Listening to customer requests and determining how best to achieve customer satisfaction and involving other staff if necessary.
  • Satisfactory first contact resolution of a customer concern is always the goal.

Sales Floor Duties

  • Based on needs of the business to provide support to the other store locations as required during higher and lower volume periods.
  • Operation of POS cash register system, processing sales, refunds, inquiries and inventory control
  • Opening and closing the bookstore/campus store; Key holder duties.
  • Opening, closing and balancing the register.
  • Acts as frontline person for communicating and enforcing bookstore/Campus Store policy.
  • Works with individuals to resolve any disputes/problems.
  • Responsible for fulfillment of web orders and responding to customer service issues
  • Approves refunds and error corrections made on cash registers, and reads and clears cash registers

Other Duties

  • Supports periodic inventory counts and yearend inventory and reconciliation. Supports with preparation and physical count of all Campus Store locations.
  • Ensure timelines and deadlines dates are met for physical inventory.
  • Preparing, organizing all inventory, assist with counting, checking functions of Physical Inventory
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager, Campus Retail and Vendor Management

Qualifications:


  • 2year Diploma
  • 2 years of experience in a retail environment with a focus on customer service
  • An understanding and ability to work with Bookware3000 POS and inventory management software associated with Bookware3000
  • Ability to use receiving equipment safely such as a pump truck
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively interculturally with diverse groups of students, employees and the community.
