OPTIONS Work Activity Program

  • Career Practitioner_
  • Collaborate with the career development support team
  • Conduct group registrations and program orientation sessions
  • Liaise with referring agencies regarding initial referrals
  • Ongoing development, implementation and evaluation of procedures and policies
  • Perform 1:1 career coaching to participants appropriate to their individual needs by creating individual program plans; manage IPP weekly
  • Conduct needs assessment of interests, values, skills and competencies of participants and connecting them with market needs
  • Assess participants' challenges to employment, develop strategies to reduce these challenges; monitor and evaluate results; create return to work action plans for each Participant
  • Conduct informal and comprehensive evaluations and assessments with participants to review progress and develop remedial measures
  • Follow up with referring agencies regarding participant progress; provide written documentation on participants to internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintain uptodate statistics and reports
  • Mediate conflict between participants and/or staff when necessary
  • Provide support to participants and advocate on their behalf
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and provide participant updates to staff
  • Maintain the required standards of confidentiality and ethical practices at all times
  • Carry out the policies and procedures of the Options program
  • Facilitator_
  • Develop, implement, and facilitate training sessions in life skills, personal development and team building
  • Maintain a welcoming and inviting mentality with participants, staff and visitors/customers
  • Ongoing evaluation of participant progress
  • Perform informal assessments to review progress and coaching opportunities
  • Ensure participants are employment ready for placement or for work in the community

Qualifications:

  • A combination of education and experience that demonstrate abilities in this scope of work. A degree in social work, sociology, education, counselling, psychology, or similar
  • Hold a Nova Scotia Career Development Practitioner Certification or be willing to obtain one
  • Demonstrated a strong commitment to working with diverse and inclusive populations
  • Established effective and appropriate interpersonal communication skills and strong writing abilities
  • Knowledgeable of individualized programming (needs assessments, implementation strategies and evaluation techniques); effective interviewing skills
  • Ability to work within a dynamic team environment with a shared vision
  • Sensitivity to various barriers, challenges and obstacles to employment (i.e., the impact of violence and abuse in reference to employment, mental health, etc.)
  • Experienced with facilitating groups (adult learners and/or understand adult learning principles)
  • Practice ethical decision making
  • Experienced in working with community groups and volunteer agencies
  • Ability to access and effectively use information and communications technology
  • Must have excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Have developed proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word and Excel)
  • Adherence to inclusionary practice and a respect for diversity


Compensation package includes medical/dental plan, group pension plan, 5-weeks paid program shutdown, and an opportunity to positively impact people's lives.


Salary:
$44,000.00-$45,400.00 per year
