Description:
VIA Rail Canada is the largest passenger rail service in Canada.

With hundreds of engines and passenger cars in its fleet, VIA Rail is launching several major projects to keep its fleet in good working condition.

In order to strengthen the team and grow its capacity, the Rolling Stock Projects Department is looking for two interns to join the team.

Interns will join a young, dynamic team and have the opportunity to work on major multi-million-dollar projects.

As front-line agents, you will get the chance to work with the project teams and learn about project and team management.

Interns will work on railway stock renovation projects handled internally in VIA Rail railway shops or externally by our partners.

If you like a challenge and are interested in project management, this internship is for you
Within the projects department, the intern reports directly to the portfolio manager and will have two primary responsibilities:

Support for Project Managers

The projects team is led by a portfolio manager and is made up of five project managers, a financial controller and a planner.

As a member of this team, you will help project managers in different areas of their work: cost management, deadline management, team management, etc.

You will work on different projects based on operational needs and emergencies and according to project managers' requests.
Methodology support - Project management

As a member of the team, you'll work with project managers and the portfolio manager to come up with and create tools to improve portfolio and project management.

More specifically, you'll be responsible for producing processes, management and control tools, dashboards, task support and instructions (SOPs).

Your tools and deliverables will help improve the team and improve the quality of services provided by the projects office.

For this responsibility, you will be required to lead meetings and take initiative to succeed.
