Core Purpose and Essence of the Position
The Manager, Engineering (Continuous Improvement) will be responsible for deployment of
DSV Sigma in Solutions division - support & sustain lean culture and support major CI projects.
In addition, the Manager will support guiding the business in terms of best practices and strategy related to automation, mechanization, and innovation from a warehousing perspective.
The Manager will report directly to the Senior Manager, Engineering.Essential Duties & Responsibilities
_Technical _:
- Perform analysis of data, processes & material flow related to existing operations to identify improvement opportunities.
- Establish task teams and guiding them through process of stabilization of operations.
- Support major changes (tactical & strategical) within the warehouse with regards to processes, MHE, WMS, mechanization, and automation.
- Train the organization on Lean, Six Sigma & Change Management.
- Experience in LMS implementation and/or steady state execution
_Documentation & Financial reports_:
- Perform cost/benefit tradeoff analysis and develop ROI business cases for recommended projects involving process, system or advanced technology changes.
_Stakeholder Management_:
- Liaise with global Sigma & BCM teams to ensure alignment with trends and direction provided by Head Office.
- Work closely with project implementation, solutions design & pricing teams to ensure standardization of best practices in DSV.
Required Competencies
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of warehousing processes, systems, and equipment (MHE)
- Advanced Knowledge of Excel, Access & MS Visio
- Knowledge of Lean methodologies & Six Sigma tools, preferably Six Sigma Green Belt or above qualification
Communication & Organizational Skills
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Able to communicate requirements, drive discussions to generate ideas & solve problems.
- Ability to develop and deliver presentations to management.
- Task prioritization & time management skill
- Proactive and Teamwork oriented
Other
- Willing to travel within GTA & Canada
(up to 40%): - Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail
Minimum Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering required or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Minimum 35 years' experience in warehouse environment
