Experiences Canada is a national charitable organization dedicated to opening young people's minds and involving them in a broader world.

We do this by facilitating experiential learning opportunities such as youth forums, travel and exchanges.

Experiences Canada's programming provides Canadian youth with the unique opportunity to see Canada differently, exploring this country's diverse histories, cultures, and contemporary challenges, and making life-changing connections with peers from coast-to-coast-to-coast.


THE OPPORTUNITY


This role will focus on the design and layout of various marketing and education materials that will be made available to schools and youth.

The primary focus will be the creation of our annual yearbook, which highlights youth participating in our programs.

Searching and attaining photos and testimonials will be a key component of the role, as well as appropriate file management and organisation.

Secondary focus will be as a general member of the communications team. There are a wide range of activities undertaken under Communications that support the projects Experiences Canada delivers. This may include research, helping to promote our programs, edit/create promotional videos, creating social media content and more.


Key responsibilities:

  • Where needed reach out to participants to provide content.
  • Save file in appropriate location with naming convention.
  • Read through testimonials and blogs to find the best material to showcase.
  • Create the annual yearbook (design, layout, look and feel).
  • Assist with other marketing collateral as needed (eg annual report).
  • Assist in creating social media content such reels and short form video.
  • Assist other staff as needed this may include assisting in offsite events during work hours.

Skills/Experience Required

  • Relevant degree from technical college or university (can be ongoing)
  • Experience with graphic design, digital design, photography, and print production.
  • Experience with Adobe suite, Canva etc.
  • Strong work ethic, proactive and able to manage time efficiently while working remotely.
  • Be organised, and able to work remotely while staying engaged.
  • Ability to read/understand french a definite asset

Supervision and Mentoring Plan


This is a hybrid position that includes 1-2 days per week in our Ottawa office, with the remaining days remote.

You will report to the Director of Communications.

You will be provided with weekly direction, supervision and mentoring, which will include frequent meetings with the communications team and the wider staff cohort.


Fields of Study
Graphics design, interactive media design, digital design, Communications (Marketing, Electronic and Digital Media).


Eligibility:


All applicants must:

  • Be able to work from a virtual (home) office with own computer, internet, phone
  • Have no criminal record and be able to pass a vulnerable sector check
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment

  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada
