General Accountability


This position is responsible for performing a variety of functions associated with the planning, reviewing and scheduling of activities and initiatives related to asset management for the assigned department within the Infrastructure & Operations Group - Plant Maintenance, Signals/Electrical/Communications, Streetcar Infrastructure or Track & Structures.


Key Job Functions

  • Leads and assists the department in the development of asset management plans and with reviews, coordination, maintenance and general asset management initiatives as required.
  • Assists with the oversight and management of information, operations and budgets for ongoing repair, rehabilitation projects, asset inventories, asset condition and instituting best practices.
  • Provides forecasts and advises management of scheduled repairs & maintenance activities.
  • Contributes to the development and preparation of departmental planning/reporting procedures.
  • Works collaboratively with various cost centers to establish levels of service for internal sections and external stakeholders regarding maintenance and state of good repair schedules; Works with other planning positions to ensure alignment of internal/external schedules and annual targets.
  • Considers resource constraints, revenue service operations when planning and scheduling projects; recommends the reallocation of resources to optimize maintenance, capital work, and asset management initiatives.
  • Liases with and provides support to staff in Operations groups, which may require occasional work on weekends and/or offshifts.
  • Manages resource interdependencies, competing stakeholder needs and associated constraints, ensuring resources are available to meet the requirements of the production schedule at all times.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to identify and analyze new maintenance initiatives and assists frontline managers in determining service and labour requirements.
  • Initiates problem reports, work tickets, etc., to rectify material and equipment supply issues, and acts upon solution proposals; interfaces with various departments to enable suitable technologies in assigned sections.
  • Prepares cost centre, master and production schedules associated with the assigned network.
  • Liaises with assigned sections, other departments and stakeholders in the preparation of project plans and to ensure pertinent requirements are completed on time and in alignment with corporate initiatives.
  • Documents, reviews, and enhances business management practices to ensure alignment of asset management functions and technology in the scheduling of preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Prepares and maintains status reports for ongoing work activities.
  • Participates in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program.

Education and Experience

  • Completion of a university degree in a related Engineering discipline, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • Demonstrated project planning and management experience in the construction industry.
