The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program at TSoM is a comprehensive program which integrates reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills with an academic focus to build strong foundational skills that are required for success in college or university.


At TSoM, we incorporate key, innovative approaches to language teaching and adult learning as our objective is for all our students to be provided with well-rounded study programs that utilize peer support to create a meaningful and memorable learning experience.


Responsibilities:


  • Plan and teach wellprepared EAP classes according to the syllabus and guidelines.
  • Use the Communicative Approach employing methodologies such as guided discovery, taskbased learning, and the lexical approach, among others.
  • Monitor, assess, track, and record student academic progress and development.
  • Assign homework, do marking, and provide meaningful feedback and guidance to students regularly.
  • Supervise student attendance and behaviour according to college policies.
  • Administer and mark tests and assignments while providing constructive feedback to students.
  • Develop materials and resources, implement, support and/or aid in the production and improvement of program as appropriate, and undertake other academic project work as directed.
  • Maintain good communication with administrative staff in order to properly track student records and success.
  • Involved with the progression of the school by attending meetings and contributing to improvement by implementing new initiatives and providing feedback.

Position Requirements:


  • Degree in Education, Linguistics, Pedagogy or equivalent required
  • Minimum TESL 1 certificate and/or CELTA required
  • Minimum of 2 years' fulltime EAP teaching experience
  • Effective communicator and positive and flexible attitude
  • Proactive about own development and the job
  • Experience with blended learning
  • Strong computer skills

Asset:


  • TESL 2, CELTA, DELTA or MA in TESOL or Applied Linguistics
