Course Description

Elementary Education:
The second of two courses specifically designed for elementary school pre-service teachers. Provides opportunities for the development of increasingly sophisticated knowledge and practices specific to elementary mathematics teaching. Provides insight and understanding of the Quebec modern elementary mathematics program.

Week 1 & 3:
T,W & R, 9am-12pm & 1:30pm-4:00pm;

Week 2 (Online): T & R, 9am-12pm

Location:
Chisasibi, Quebec.

Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs)

Education- A Master's degree (in exceptional circumstances applicants without a Master's degree but with significant research or professional experience related to the course content may be considered);- A teaching degree or equivalent and experience teaching in elementary schools

Experience- Knowledge of the Quebec Education program (QEP) and the curriculum of the partnering school board with whom this course is being giving in collaboration.- Expert knowledge of course content in elementary math pedagogy- Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified in the Ministère de l'Éducation- Experience teaching in the elementary school system- Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) to pre-service teachers- Experience as a teacher, administrator, or consultant in the partnering school board for which this course is being delivered.- Previous successful experience teaching similar courses in Indigenous communities.

Other- A commitment to working with a team of committed and engage instructors- Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of the course start dateAdditional Information:
