Reporting to the Project Director, the role is responsible for managing project development activities at single or various projects within the company from completion of feasibility and project sanction through commissioning and handover.

Tactically, oversight involves ensuring systems and procedures and personnel are in place to provide process control and minimize the risk of project cost and schedule overrun while ensuring quality work is performed.

The Project Manager will have full responsibility for budget and schedule management.

Strategically, the role requires the Project Manager to establish the required strategic relationships both within Kinross and with third parties to ensure successful project execution.


Responsibilities:


Project Controls Development and Implementation

  • Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental corporate objectives are embodied in project design and development activities.
  • Oversees the implementation of companywide processes, systems and practices, specifically relating to the project execution.
  • Ensure that appropriate systems are in place on development projects to control and accurately monitor scope, cost and schedule.
  • Ensure appropriate and qualified personnel are in place and organized in an efficient and effective manner to execute project activities.
  • Ensure work product quality meets required standards through direct review or thirdparty review.
  • Establishes the annual capital budgets for the project and ensure consistency with Kinross' established financial guidelines and business planning process and align project activities to the site's strategic business plan.
  • Work with Regional management to collaboratively advance projects by defining organizational structures and communications methods that meet Regional needs as well as overall corporate objectives.

Reporting

  • Establish communication systems and procedures between project implementation personnel and senior management to ensure schedule and cost status are communicated in a timely, consistent and accurate manner. Including Project Steering Committees along with quarterly reporting efforts.

Other project work

  • Ensure broad or "outofthebox" thinking is allowed to occur with respect to projects in evaluation and feasibility to maximize value.
  • At all stages of the project, promote continuous valueadded thinking and execution to support project economics.

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline or related technical diploma supported by relevant experience
- +7 years of related industry experience, in the areas of feasibility development and management, project management and execution and project readiness preparation on brownfield and greenfield projects.

  • Experience in remote and greenfield project development is considered an asset

Required Technical Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of the project development process flow within the mineral industry.
  • Prior management experience with geographically dispersed teams, while executing construction work at multiple locations with one common goal.

Required Behavioral Competence

  • Ability to develop and maintain a strong client/service provider relationship with regional management
  • Interact with a wide range of personalities and achieve core objectives
  • Demonstrate leadership in safety and environmental management

  • Ability to manage and motivate a team in a remote and difficult environment

Required Experience

Must have done the following:

  • Must have prior experience in management with $1M $250M projects both in the feasibility and execution phases
  • Experience managing a large work site with multiple cultures including local indigenous groups
  • Must have an aptitude and interest in permitting and regulatory affairs
  • Planned and executed major initiatives such as a partnership, major change, new system implementation, or expansion
  • Acted as spokesperson, internally and externally, for sensitive issues or change initiatives
