Position Scope
FPS is seeking a talented Hub Coordinator in our new product development Innovation Center in Richmond, BC.

As a member of an industry-leading Innovation Center team, this individual will play a central role to oversee and operate the innovation center by maximizing the uptime of the machines, periodic reporting to upper management, monitoring access and restrictions control to the innovation center, upkeeping and maintain the spaces for key intended users, and preparing budget reports to intended activities.

Responsibilities include the development of experimental plans, implementation of experiments, sample measurements, data analysis, as well as resolution of new product development challenges in collaboration with other R&D functions.

As a member of a dynamic and diverse team focused on innovation, this position will provide the opportunity to learn new technologies, collaborate across R&D functions, and grow broadly beyond one's own discipline.

Hands-on experimental work is expected, as is the ability to work both independently and in a matrix team environment.


Key Responsibilities**- Oversee and run the daily operation of the Innovation Center

  • Design, develop and test processes of food processing equipment with a high degree of reliability, independence, and attention to detail. Maintain accurate records of experimental results
  • Perform experimental troubleshooting methods using functional mechanical tests, determine prototypes and ongoing runtime tests for optimal level. Collaborate and align with R&D Engineers to develop analytical methods for new product development
  • Design validation protocols that comply with company guidelines and identify critical factors that may not be mandated by the guidelines but are essential for validating the methods for intended use
  • Create new methods and processes to preserve food and increase food manufacturing efficiency
  • Coordinate with R&D functions for production processes repair that are not working properly
  • Evaluate and record the cost of processes and equipment. Budge for new initiatives and center development
  • Work with the R&D engineering team to maintain food product standards
  • Present and discuss processes the equipment findings with company management
  • Teach and train new employees about processes and equipment

Qualifications & Abilities

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Food Engineering, Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineering
  • Prior handson experience working in an R&D laboratory manufacturing environment preferred
  • The ability to work successfully in both a team / matrix environment as well as independently is essential
  • The ability to work in a fastpaced environment, manage priorities, and maintain timelines for multiple projects is essential
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively present results in both oral and written reports and to productively disseminate ideas across discipline and project boundaries, including communicating critical analytical issues and solutions to crossfunctional teams.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, particularly MS Excel
