Cenovus is currently looking for a Maintenance Technician - Instrumentation (MARP) to join our Christina Lake


Reporting to the PDO Offsites Measurement and E&I Coordinator, the position is responsible to effectively maintain, calibrate/verify, and inspect all regulatory and accounting meters as well as support Maintenance to meet MARP regulatory requirements at site.

Responsibilities:


  • Perform analysis, troubleshooting and functional testing on pneumatic and electronic metering devices and associated communications infrastructure related to all regulatory measurement equipment. This includes, but is not limited to, MARP, CEMS, HIPPS and Nuclear density gauges.
  • Conduct or coordinate preventative and corrective repairs on regulatory instrumentation and related components in plant and field facilities
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections and checks, with emphasis on safety, environmental and regulatory requirements
  • Work collaboratively with operations providing technical advice and assist with the commissioning of related metering equipment following repair/replacement
  • Maintain awareness of changes to regulatory requirements that are relevant to the execution of facility maintenance and new equipment installations
  • Examine/update instrument drawings, shutdown keys and datasheets for reference purposes and for determining work procedures
  • Ensure quality standards are met for instrument additions/replacement and maintenance of related measurement devices
  • Maintain test equipment certification
  • Comply with the prioritization and classification system for work order completion
  • Submit work orders/requests of potential work or opportunity work that is related to shutdown/turnaround.
  • Participate in the process to identify parts and spare parts inventory requirements
  • Develop job procedures for specific, nonroutine maintenance tasks
  • Actively engage in major overhauls and turnaround / shutdown activities
  • Respond to emergency situations as necessary and escalate communication of issues and their resolution as appropriate
  • Participate in root cause analyses, HAZOPs / PHAs, lessons learnt sharing, etc. as required
  • Collaborate effectively with operations, and maintenance planners and leads
  • Work collaboratively to resolve internal issues, balance competing priorities to reach timely and unified solutions
  • Execute responsibilities according to Cenovus' Safety and Environmental Commitments
  • Participate in a sustainable continuous improvement culture, challenge the status quo, and identify and execute both strategic and focused improvement efforts directly supporting the Plan, Execute, Review, and Improve (PERI) cycle.
  • Work within budgetary/financial objectives and the procedure used to manage them

Qualifications:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Alberta Journeyman / Interprovincial Instrumentation Certification
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in an industrial maintenance setting, preferably oil or gas processing such as cyclic and/or SAGD thermal oil recovery
  • The following would be considered an asset
  • Dual Ticket with Journeyman Electrician certification
  • Radiation Safety Officer certification
  • Experience with MARP, CEMS, HIPPS and Nuclear density gauges
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and SAP
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems, provide recommendations, and implement short
