Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) is an end-of-life care option available to eligible patients at UHN. The Clinical Coordinator

  • MAiD holds organizationwide responsibilities while working closely with the MAID clinical team (Clinical Nurse Specialist, Administrative Assistant, assessors/ providers, and executive leadership) as a primary resource for the coordination of internal MAID processes (e.g. inquiries, requests, consults, assessments, and provisions). The Clinical Coordinator
  • MAiD will also consult and collaborate with interprofessional teams, managers, and directors across the organization for optimal patient care and support throughout the MAID process.
Other coordinator responsibilities may include supporting the development and evaluation of MAiD policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives; managing database structures and stewardship of data collection; participating in academic and research activities/projects; identifying process concerns and quality issues to present to MAiD program leadership and relevant committees (e.g. case reviews, safety events, process evaluation, etc); performing administrative responsibilities; and performing cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested.

This position will report to the Director of Professional Practice, MAiD


Qualifications:


  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing.
  • Certificate of competency (licensure) from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) program.
  • Minimum three (3) years related experience in a health care environment and/or teaching hospital preferred.
  • Interest and/or comfort in communicating with patients, families, and interprofessional team members in the context of MAiD and endoflife care.
  • Commitment to a collaborative and interprofessional practice.
  • Previous experience in wordprocessing/data entry/spreadsheet software, including Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Visio), preferred.
  • Excellent empathic verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent teaching skills with the ability to teach oneonone and/or within groups.
  • Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand.
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational, time management, and problemsolving skills.
  • Can deal effectively with ambiguity in timesensitive scenarios.
  • Ability to produce high quality and accurate work in accordance with hospital standards.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Ability to use good judgment in assessing difficult situations.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • Ability to perform duties in a selfdirected manner.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
