General Accountability:


  • This job is responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance and monitoring of multiple work schedules including inspection and preventative maintenance programs; planned major repairs, overhauls and equipment replacement; new construction and upgrades carried out by internal resources and/or external contractors; repair and maintenance work initiated in response to audit recommendations and through requests directed to the department

Key Job Functions:


  • Develops, implements, maintains, analyzes, and monitors work schedules and cash flows for maintenance and construction activities conducted by the Building Equipment Section of the Plant Maintenance Department, including plumbing, heating, ventilation, carpentry, welding, bricklaying, mechanical, and other trades etc.
  • Creates and implements logic diagrams, flow processes and critical path methodologies and analysis for optimizing multitrade activities or work undertaken by the department.
  • Implements and evaluates maintenance and construction schedule performance indicators, and liaises with Forepersons and other internal staff to obtain and update information, as required.
  • Develops weekly maintenance schedules, manages maintenance work order backlogs, and prepares progress and key performance indicator reports.
  • Prepares monthly reports, comparing actual costs with budgeted costs, investigates variances and recommends performance improvement.
  • Acts as a key user of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS, i.e. Maximo), by issuing and analyzing maintenance management reports detailing Plant Maintenance Department work schedules and activities, and suggesting improvements to the CMMS.
  • Identifies, analyzes and reviews maintenance problems with Maintenance Engineering and revises maintenance management programs as necessary, to improve and enhance plant and field operations.

  • Participates in the TTC's Customer Service Ambassador Program.

Education and Experience:


  • Completion of a postsecondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • Experience in maintenance planning and costing in a technical environment.

Additional Requirements:


  • Hands on experience in planning, preparing and analysing logic diagrams, critical path networks and bar charts for construction projects and workforce activities
  • Must have strong proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, charts, conditional formatting, data validation, etc.) and also be proficient with either Power BI or Crystal Reports
  • Experience with scheduling software (Primavera, MS Project) and CMMS (i.e. Maximo)
  • Demonstrated ability to obtain information from numerous sources in order to analyze, prepare and maintain progress schedules
  • Must have sound judgement plus good analytical, organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with construction and maintenance activities is required
  • Ability to comprehend drawings is an asset
