About Our Organization:

When you join the City of Guelph, you join a team of 2000 full and part-time employees who deliver services the community relies on every day.

Together, we are bringing to life Guelph's vision of an inclusive, connected, and prosperous city where we look after each other and our environment.

As a regional top employer, the City of Guelph values its employees and offers competitive salaries, excellent benefit packages, opportunities for professional development, a healthy work-life balance, and many roles with flexible work options.

Our corporate values are integrity, service, inclusion, wellness, and learning.

Guelph is consistently ranked as one of the best places in Canada to live, work, and play—all good reasons to consider a career in this beautiful city.

Guelph Museums consists of three heritage sites - Guelph Civic Museum, McCrae House, and Locomotive through which we explore our local histories in the form of exhibitions, online access, educational programming, and community events.

Guelph Museums is located on the ancestral homelands of the Anishinabek Peoples, specifically the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.

The place we now call Guelph is on land described in the Between the Lakes Purchase No.

3 Treaty (1792), an agreement between the Mississaugas of the Credit and the British Crown concerning over 3 million acres of land between Lakes Huron, Ontario and Erie.

Today, Guelph is home to many First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.

As a centre of learning, Guelph Museums is a trusted source for understanding our cultural past; however, as a colonial institution, we have contributed to the marginalization of Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour and their communities.

Now and forward, Guelph Museums is centering the voices of peoples historically silenced in colonial spaces.

In 2023/24, we are committed to projects that strengthen and build relationships and are embedded in rigorous research, consultation, and collaboration.

We aim to create safer and braver spaces for truth telling, attract and connect with diverse audiences, deepen visitor engagement, and embrace innovative, leading-edge museum practices and technologies.

These guiding principles inform all that we do at Guelph Museums and, as such, extend to the incumbent in the Curatorial Assistant position described below.
