Job Title:
BUILDING MAINTENANCE WORKER (Temporary Full-time)**
Program: PETERSON PLACE
- SURREY

Classification:
STANDARD GRID LEVEL 10 - BUILDING MAINTENANCE WORKER**
Rate of Pay:$23.90 per hour; increments as per the Collective Agreement**
JOB SUMMARY:Inspect, assess, organize, initiate and perform building and property maintenance for the ongoing and
preventative upkeep of the site including housing units for tenants; Communicate in a manner that upholds
positive tenant and community relations; Assist with the social housing needs of persons living with multiple
barriers and contribute to a team approach to the operations of the program and the maintenance of the
building and property.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Grade 10, Residential Building Maintenance Worker (RBMW) certification or equivalent trades'
education, training and 2 years recent experience related to building and property maintenance in
multi-unit and/or commercial sites

  • Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical work and lifting
equipment and supplies and agents

  • Ability to inspect, assess, organize and initiate work/routines for building and property
maintenance and repairs and preventive maintenance practices

  • Ability to communicate in a manner that upholds positive tenant and community relations
  • Sensitive to and willingness to assist with the social housing needs of persons living with multiple
barriers within a harm reduction philosophy

  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to working effectively with a diverse population
  • Contribute to a team approach to the operations of the program and the maintenance of the
property

  • Valid First Aid/CPR and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification
  • WHMIS training an asset
  • Working knowledge of MS Office; familiarity with an electronic case management system is
preferred

  • Successful Criminal Record Check

PRESENT HOURS OF WORK:


40 hours per week - Friday to Tuesday: 1:00pm - 9:00pm. Flexibility with hours of work is required to
meet client and program needs as determined by the Program Supervisor.

This is a temporary full-time position covering a medical leave; end date to be confirmed.
