We currently have an exciting opportunity for a
temporary Safety Advisor, located at our Parkland site in Burnaby, BC.

The Safety Advisor will provide support in the Safety, Health, and Environmental areas in an effort to prevent and mitigate employee injuries and illnesses.

The Safety Advisor will assist site management to promote effective safety programs and will ensure the company remains in compliance with governmental regulations, customer requirements, and related company policies and procedures.


This position is required to provide support during TA on site. The anticipated duration of this position is January - March 3, 2023.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Perform audits and inspections to give positive feedback and identify hazards at the workplace;
  • Investigate and document incidents involving company property, employees, or temporary employees;
  • Coordinate transportation of injured or ill employees to medical facilities. May work with medical providers and Aluma Systems' Risk Management Department to ensure the procedure requirements of the Aluma Systems' return to work program are followed;
  • Facilitate, document, and ensure all employees receive the company's and customer's required safety training;
  • Assist with safety meetings and conduct training programs for employees;
  • Compile management reports and assist with recordkeeping requirements;
  • Administer the emergency response procedures for Aluma Systems employees at the site;
  • Participate in safety initiatives, meetings and programs as required by the customer

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


  • Minimum CSO or equivalent training required. NCSO designation or working towards is an asset;
  • 35 years of safety experience in the construction/ manufacturing industry preferred. Previous experience with painting, scaffolding or sandblasting would be an asset;
  • Requires the ability to climb structural stairs and ladders and scaffold and enter confined spaces on job sites;
  • Working knowledge and understanding of current construction and general industry safety regulations and the ability to analyze and interpret this data for the safety of employees, job sites, and the branch;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, utilize judgment, and work with mínimal supervision;
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as strong organization and time management skills

This is a unionized position.

Schedule:

  • 10 hour shift
  • 12 hour shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Burnaby, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:


  • Safety: 3 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • CSO certification (preferred)
