Plan, develop, coordinate and run a variety of child/youth programs that engage participants in new adventures and experiences.
Summer day camp activities are for groups of children, youth, and families living in marginalized and vulnerable communities we serve.
Summer Day Camp employees will work together to plan and execute activities for participants each week, providing an unforgettable summer experience, caring supervision and support.
Perform related administration including creating and distributing communication materials and creating activityreports.
Working alongside the Family and Community Development Coordinators, or Child and Youth Coordinators the Summer Day Camp Leader takes part in the design and implementation of age appropriate activities and outings for children and youth aged 1- 4, and 13-and up.
The Summer Day Camp Leader will demonstrate leadership and show active participation in the programs, activities and serve as a positive and wholesome role model to all participants in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Agency.
- Responsible for providing mentorship support to other summer program staff and youth volunteers
- Responsible for communicating with parents, children, summer staff and resource centre staff in an efficient and effective manner
- Planning, leading and implementing age appropriate activities for various children and youth programs.
- Following the planned curriculum and active participation in programming.
- Responsible for completing/receiving registration forms for participants
- Responsible for documentation as it pertains to safety, field trips permission forms, client contact information, attendance reporting etc.
- Responsible for maintaining and respecting confidentiality in work with clients, and following duty of disclosure practices and guidelines
- Responsible for problem solving and managing difficult situations and challenging behaviours in a supportive and positive manner
- Perform outreach to children and youth who may be atrisk, vulnerable, marginalized and living within the communities we serve.
- Supervise participants and ensure their safety, development, growth, skill achievement and general wellbeing.
- Ensure the cleanliness of the program space.
- Assist in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, attendance records, reflection reports.
- Distributing communication materials (Community flyer's).
- Prepare healthy snack offerings during programs.
- Mediate and demonstrate conflict resolution as appropriate
- Know, enforce and follow all safety guidelines associated with the program.
- Supervise participants and ensure their safety, development, growth, skill achievement and general well being
Other duties as related to the position and as reasonably assigned by the supervisor, or as circumstances dictate, all within the context of Family Dynamics' Mission, Vision, and Guiding Principles as well as a strong and progressive customer service and child community service orientation.
A combination of relevant experience and willingness to learn and take direction will beconsidered for applicants without post-secondary experience.
- Education_
- Enrollment or completion in postsecondary education, such as Community Development, and or Child and Youth Care or other Human Services education is an asset.
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification is an asset.
- Food Handlers Certificate is an asset.

Due to the requirements of the Canada Summer Jobs program, applicants must be:
- Between 16 and 30;
- Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;
- A valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled
regulations.
- If 18 years or older, we require a police record check with vulnerable sector clearance
International students are not eligible participants.
International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
