Job Description - Seasonal Site Services Crew LeaderSeasonal Site Services Crew Leader up to 6 months
49690 The Seasonal Site Services Crew Lead position provides direct supervision and leadership related to site services and operations at the Edmonton Valley Zoo, which is home to more than 250 animals and welcomes over 350,000 guests each year.
Your success will be measured by your ability to achieve timely results in the context of a respectful, inclusive and service-minded style.
With a focus on the City of Edmonton's Cultural Commitments to Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated, Excellent, and working with the Site Services Team Lead, you will:Supervise, coordinate and schedule resources and equipment required for daily site maintenance and operations
Assist in the development of work plans, including seasonal adjustments of site services and maintenance plans
Communicate performance expectations, goals and standards to staff, and ensure work is completed within approved work plans and standards
Assist with hiring, training and evaluation of staff to ensure effective and efficient operation and maintenance of the zoo
Ensure regulatory site checks are completed and properly documented
Maintain an effective working relationship with the public, all facility staff and leadership, partners and representatives from other City departments such as City Facility & Maintenance Services (FMS)
Address customer and stakeholder needs as related to service delivery on-site
follow and ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety/Environmental standards
Ensure hazardous chemicals are properly stored and that all regulations are followed
Manage an effective equipment maintenance plan
Identify site services issues and establish measures to mitigate issues
Review the horticultural needs of the site and develop plans to meet these needs as well as similar seasonal elements of the facility operations
Establish and maintain a resource management system that identifies when products need to be replaced or replenished
Completion of a minimum two year diploma in a related field
A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in a Site Maintenance including in a supervisory capacity
Knowledge of site maintenance in a zoo setting
Working knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used to complete tasks (hand tools, snow blowers, leaf blowers, pressure washers, tractors)
Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, time management, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution, teamwork, and prioritization skills are required
Exemplary customer service skills and the ability to communicate and deal effectively with the public, as well as internal and external partners
Completion of WHMIS is an asset
