Aishwarya Thiruvenkidan

I am Aishwarya Thiruvenkidan. Presently enrolled as a student at Fanshawe College doing my postgraduate diploma in Construction Project Management. I have done my bachelor's in Civil Engineering in 2021 from Toc H Institute of Science & Engineering, Kerala, India. Immediately after graduating, I joined Creators Constructions, which was a private firm as a junior engineer. From there, I had the opportunity to learn and understand most of the practical and technical sides of the construction industry. After training for 6 months, I got promoted to work as a Quantity Surveyor for the same project and continued to work for a period of a year.

1. Junior Site Engineer: Ensured that all site activities were conducted in compliance with health and safety regulations, Reported any unsafe practices or conditions to the site safety officer or senior engineers. Supervised construction activities to make sure they adhered to the project's standards, specifications, and plans, closely observed on-site laborers and subcontractors to guarantee efficiency and quality of work and assisted in setting out the site and marking the locations for construction activities according to the project drawings, Inspected materials delivered to the site to ensure they meet project specifications and standards, Looked over completed work for compliance with quality standards and report any issues to senior engineers, Maintained accurate records of daily construction activities, site reports, and progress reports and prepared and updated project documentation, including as-built drawings and site diaries.
2. Estimator (Quantity Surveyor): Regular site visits were carried out to ensure the materials and quantities used were as per the design, Manually measured the dimensions of structural elements to make sure accuracy. Kept a neat record of structural drawings, architectural drawings, finishes drawings, shop drawings, and revised drawings so that reviewing of drawings during estimation can be done easily. Utilized construction management software and cost estimation tools for efficient project management. Prepared preliminary cost estimates and budgets and developed detailed cost plans to ensure that the design remained within budget, Prepared, and evaluated the bills of quantities used to be submitted to contractors and clients and submitted financial reports and cash flow forecasts to the stakeholders, Assessed the cost implications of design changes or variations to the contract. Ensured transparent communication regarding financial matters throughout the project lifecycle.
