Alexandra Pickett

I completed my Master of Public Policy at Simon Fraser University and Hons. Bachelor of Arts in Political Science Specialization in Law and Judicial Studies with a minor in Mental Health, Addiction, and Society. 

During my time at McMaster, I worked in Library Assistant Services for the first two years during the school year and full-time during the summer. In my last two years, I transferred to work in Thode Library at McMaster.

Emergency Planning and Response Research Specialist June 2023-Present

• Responsible for managing and contributing to grant applications
• Implemented, developed, and managed projects 
• Responsible for writing and developing grant proposals, briefing notes, and band council resolutions
• Provided and presented research to team members, members from other departments, and partners from organizations working with the department, to share knowledge and learn how to support community members.

Library Student Assistant September 2019-April 2021 

H. G. Thode Library and Mills Memorial Library, McMaster University, Hamilton, ON

• Shelved, organized and scanned inter-loan materials.
• Staffed the circulation desk, answered questions students had, and aided them in finding materials. 
• Responsible for closing the library 

Library Assistant Services (LAS) Transcription Assistant September 2017-April 2019

• Transcribed textbooks for the Library Accessibility Services for students with learning and physical disabilities.
• Supported Library Accessibility Services students with technology and their questions.
• Monitored and facilitated the study space students with disabilities used, while simultaneously supporting the students.
• Prioritized multiple deadlines and was also responsible for determining which projects needed to be prioritized
