About Allyson Andrade:
I am a PhD student studying Behavioural Neuroscience at the University of Guelph. My research focuses on the neurobiology of how learning shapes our expectations about outcomes and guide goal-directed behaviours.
Experience
I am a doctoral candidate at the University of Guelph, specializing in Neuroscience within the Department of Psychology. Currently, my research focuses on understanding the neurobiology of how drugs of abuse influence cognition (i.e., learning, memory, decision-making). Throughout my academic journey, I've been honored with multiple scholarships such as the NSERC CGS-D and the Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship. My dedication to research is evident through my extensive experience as a research assistant, where I investigated various aspects of substance use disorder and anxiety, particularly focusing on the effects of drugs of abuse using animal models. Beyond academia, I am also the Founder/Owner of DataStruct Solutions Inc., a business aimed at aiding organizations in data analysis and interpretation. Additionally, I've contributed significantly to teaching and service activities, from sessional instructor roles to coordinating conferences and mentoring programs, showcasing my commitment to both academia and community engagement.
