Alyssa Goguen

My name is Alyssa Goguen, and I am a recent graduate of Algonquin College's Applied Museum Studies program. Ever since childhood, I have had a passion for history and museums, which has driven my decision to pursue museology. While in the Applied Museum Studies program, I've been particularly interested in exhibit preparation and collections. As part of the program requirements, I completed a four-month internship at the Canadian Museum of History, gaining valuable hands-on experience in exhibit preparation. I'm currently seeking a career in the museum where I can continue sharing my passion for preserving history and making lasting contributions to cultural institutions. 

I completed a four-month internship in Exhibit Preparation at the Canadian Museum of History, where I performed a variety of tasks, including, but not limited to making mounts, mannequins, props for exhibits, repairing props and interactives for exhibits, performing exhibit maintenance, and installing and uninstalling showcases and artifacts. Notably, I helped install the well-known exhibition “First Royals of Europe.” 

The Applied Museum Studies program at Algonquin College is a three-year program. This advanced diploma program allows students to gain skills and knowledge in various museum sectors, including exhibit preparation, collections, conservation, educational programming, and museum management.
