Intermediate Front-End Developer, Lifeworks

Montreal, QC, Canada

November 2021 - Now

LifeWorks is a world leader in providing digital and in-person solutions that support the total wellbeing of individuals. Part of the products offered are benefits administration. Once built on C with a desktop GUI, once with Microsoft Dynamics CRM, the portal is being migrated to Angular using a .NET Core API.

The project includes creating and enhancing features, maintaining bug fixes and provide withnew ideas. It is maintained with a proprietary issue tracking (Azure DevOps), a version control system (Git), and many more tools. Many libraries are used (LoDash, ngRx, RxJs, etc.) to help develop, build and compile the benefits administration project. During his role at Lifeworks, after a few weeks only, Amine helped hotfix many bugs, from the simplest to some complicated ones. He finished created many features after a few months and is a big part of the project respecting the delays. AGILE is part of the everyday work to structure the workflow. Part of the everyday work is:

- Debug multiple product issues using different web browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, etc.) and IDEs (Visual Studio Code primarily).

- Fix bugs for different environments, for different customers.

- Enhance some features UX-wise using code refactor, styling, etc.

- Create new components using analysis from product owners and design schemas from UI designers.

- Work conjointly with quality assurance analysts and actuaries to make sure changes are conform with the enterprise standards.

- Work with back-end developers to help hotfix API issues and make API enhancements.

Product Specialist, Coveo Solutions

Montreal, QC, Canada

February 2019 – October 2021

The Coveo Relevance Cloud™ is a market-leading AI-powered relevance platform. The product extends to indexed items in the Cloud Machine Learning models, a JavaScript library (that can be used for Angular, React, etc.) and a REST API to run query-based searches, product integrations on Salesforce, ServiceNow, Sitecore and more.

The role of the Product Specialist is to solve customer problems, answer questions, guide customers into the solution they need, create the necessary documentation for future open cases.

The specialist's skills require a deep knowledge of Python, JavaScript, Node.JS, CSS and other frameworks and languages (depending on the integration done by the customer), to analyze the situation presented by the customer, debug to find the source of the problem and offer a fix in the code, settings or present an optimal way to do what is wanted.

During his role at Coveo, Amine also created several documents on how to modify Coveo's library to achieve certain desired effects that are not available by default in the product.

Several testimonials of his skills as an analyst are:

- Debug multiple product issues using different web browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, etc.) and IDEs (Visual Studio Code primarily).

- Be able to create a similar environment that the client is working on to provide explanations and solutions that relate to the client's uses.

- Use CSS to make changes in the theme for a better user experience (e.g., underline particular words that will be visible to the user).

- Try and advise on changes in the way items are indexed (via Python scripts) so that they contain relevant data that allows for better use of the search product (e.g., extracting words from an indexed PDF using libraries).

- Create scripts (JavaScript/TypeScript) to allow customizations of the product (e.g., put the details and data of the results in an accordion format to have a better overview of the results).

- Guide the client to create a back end (on C#, Express, etc.) to fetch more from the product (e.g., generate temporary server-side search tokens (JWT) to avoid exposing API keys to users and bots on the web).

- Analyze custom implementations created with frameworks such as .NET, Drupal, React.JS.
