About Andrew Monkman:

Andrew Monkman comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience providing him with advanced skills in the areas of health & safety and the environment; which he has used to excel in mitigating the risk to people, property, and the environment.  

Andrew has worked for several different local municipalities and in the manufacturing industry and currently holds the role of Environmental Health & Safety Manager at Raytheon ELCAN. There he manages multi-sites and has championed Raytheon ELCAN in becoming environmental health and safety stewards in the industry. This was achieved by his efforts developing safety programs as well as various community outreach programs, which has engaged and empowered the employees. 

Andrew is a long-time member of OACETT and holds a CET designation (Certified Engineering Technologist), including professional designations as an CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional), CES (Certified Ergonomics Specialist) and EP (Environmental Profession). 

Andrew received his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Royal Roads University, where he was the recipient of the McTaggart-Cowan Excellence in Project Leadership Award. In addition, through his innovation Andrew was a finalist for the ECO Impact – EP award, recipient of the OACETT George Burwash Langford Memorial Award and OHS Canada’s Top 25 Under 40 Award due to his contributions to the field.  

Andrew strongly believes as a leader it is our responsibility to give back to the profession and community; including volunteering with local charities and mentoring new professionals in the field as safety is all our business! He volunteers with the Technology Accreditation of Canada as an auditor, and currently acts as the Vice-Chair for the OACETT Georgian Bay Chapter
