About Anika Shelrud:

I have recently graduated with my masters in science, my thesis research focused on furthering reproductive sciences. I have a passion for supporting underserved and underrepresented communities, and plan to do continue this work into the field of health care. Eager to engage in a community focused on patient care and evolution of systems.  

Experience

Program Manager @ College and University Bound Scholars (January 2023-May2023) @ University of Northern Colorado

  • Managed College and University Bound Scholars, a free afterschool college preparatory and tutoring program for historically minoritized students. Responsibilities included: Managed a staff of 9 tutors and employees, provided educational and emotional support to students, tutored high school students in all courses—specifically STEM based, and writing and review of local and federal grant applications.
     

Graduate Research Assistant@ University of Northern Colorado (August 2020-presesnt)

  • Primary cellular culture, cellular isolation, protein analysis, hormone analysis, tissue cutting and mounting, tissue staining, confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, blood draws, bovine husbandry, bovine jugular blood draws, bovine transrectal ultrasonography, surgical assistant during bovine ovariectomies, RNA extraction, gene analysis
