Caitlyn Goss

I am a freelance childcare provider looking to obtain a position in Kitchener, Waterloo Ontario starting in December 2023. I have 9 year's of experience in childcare and one year of experience working at a Taiwanese kindergarten teaching English. I am CPR certified and am in the process of obtaining my BC ECE Assistant Certificate. 

HESS International School                                                       October 2022 – Present    

• Taught English classes to toddlers and kindergarten students ages 2-5 in class sizes up to 17 students.
• Engaged students in learning English using actions, songs, games and stories to practice sentence patterns and vocabulary words. 
• Attended weekly staff meetings and monthly training to confirm upcoming events for students and discuss ways to improve classes for the children.
• Collaborated with Human Resource teachers, management, and parents to maintain an environment that protects children’s wellbeing and prepare lessons that benefit the children’s learning.
• Planned and prepared crafts and activities for children to help them develop fine motor skills while learning vocabulary words and sentence patterns for themes. 
• Used positive reinforcement and behaviourism theories to successfully encourage a resistant student to participate in classroom activities.

• Privately tutored students from various cultural backgrounds; some with learning disabilities.
• Clearly presented information to students and worked through the material at a pace that was comfortable for them and parents by asking questions to determine the students’ needs and goals for the tutoring sessions. 

Childcare Provider                                                          September 2010 - August 2019

• Worked with children ages 4-12, both individually and in groups of up to 4 both full-time and part-time, including for a family with a ten-year-old boy who had ADHD oppositional defiance.
• Recognized and respected the individual differences and needs of each child, and adapted my disciplinary methods to match their needs. 
• Played with the children in ways that fostered creativity, learning and growth while ensuring that they followed the families’ rules, and maintaining their safety. 
• Developed a new way to redirect the child’s attention and negotiation skills in a constructive way, then relayed this method to the parents.
