My name is Cara, I am 28 years old and have a background in safety as well as labouring and working in traffic control.  

I have been working in the construction industry for about 9 years now in totally.

I have worked in safety for about 3.5 years between 2 large companies in the lower mainland.

I have a very personable approach with workers in field and believe in asking for insight from seniority people on crews when discussing safety related items or when developing new procedures. 

I strive to make safety culture an accepted and anticipated thing by workers. Safety can get a bad rep which can be directly related to the representative. I believe there needs to be the right balance of safety to promoe buy in from workers. 

My safety experience includes multiple sectors such as bulk excavation, civil excavation, road construction, asphalt plant and large scale drilling. 

My adminstrative duties included in field and administrative. Writing practices, procedures, meeting minutes, job start up paper work, hazard assessments, inspections, incident investigations, weekly toolboxes, orientations, emergency preparedness documents and much more.

My in field duties consisted of on site inspections, morning toolbox meetings with crews, chairing JOHSC meetings, incident reviews on site with crews, conducting incident investigations on site with personnel involved and much more.
