Cheryl Balzer

Hello, my name is Cheryl Balzer and I am an occupational therapist. I graduated from McMaster University in September of 2019 and started working as occupational therapist in March 2020. 

Lifemark (Occupational Therapist) 

• Perform clinical evaluations, including admission assessments, ADL assessments, ergonomic assessments, functional capacity evaluations (FCE), in-home assessments/attendant care, physical demands analysis (PDA) and  cognitive demands analysis (CDA)
• Identification of appropriate equipment needs with initiation of recommendations 
• Consult with local vendors regarding equipment trials and complete applications/funding letters to Ministry of Health, insurance agencies, WSIB and other funding parties 
• Provide informal education on seating and positioning, independence with activities of daily living, wheelchairs and adaptive aides as well as providing ongoing education to clients and family to improve function, independence and safety 
• Provide ongoing evaluation of restraint use, wound prevention, falls and injury prevention. 
• Record assessment and treatment interventions in the client's chart as per guidelines established by the College of Occupational Therapists
• Ongoing professional development
• Manage a caseload in a fast-paced environment 
• Collaborate with the inter-professional (administration/supervisor/physiotherapists etc.) team at the clinic
