About Christian Shelepuk:
As a seasoned leader in waste management, recycling, secure product destruction, retail operations, packaging and power generation, I bring over two decades of expertise spanning local to global initiatives. My background is rich with achievements in extended producer responsibility, policy development, contract negotiations, and revenue growth. I am skilled in sustainability, strategic planning, and energy management. My leadership has steered large-scale projects, championed sustainable practices, and cultivated the next generation of professionals. As an effective collaborator and skilled bilingual communicator in French and English, I excel in stakeholder engagement. I leverage data for impactful results and have a strong track record as a public speaker, engaging audiences of over 1,000 individuals.
As a bilingual professional, I have experience in waste management, recycling, secure product destruction, retail operations, packaging and power generation. I've successfully developed and managed complex projects on local, national, and global scales, spanning 30 countries. My work includes municipal waste and power generation at the municipal level, waste hauling, product destruction, waste service brokering, university instructor, consulting, and compliance. As the Global Chair I also managed waste, packaging, and material obligations for Walmart Global with an operational budget exceeding $600 million. I have additionally dedicated my time and expertise to non-profit recycling organizations, serving as a director for the Circular Innovation Council (formerly the Recycling Council of Ontario). When I joined the Council, it was on the brink of insolvency. However, upon my departure, the organization was nearly debt-free with balanced operating costs. Furthermore, I served as a founding director of the National Zero Waste Council, which was created in collaboration with Metro Vancouver and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
My teaching experience at Toronto Metropolitan (Ryerson) University, where I taught a course on Fundamentals in Sustainability, has equipped me with the ability to educate others about environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) frameworks. Currently, as the Principal Consultant at GreenSky Services Inc., I manage budgets, proposals, and complex client projects, demonstrating my capacity to lead and manage a diverse array of tasks and responsibilities.
Artificial Intelligence Automations
Recently I have largely shifted the nature of my work. I've taken the time to learn how to create programs that leverage artificial intelligence to automate business operations and compliance requirements. Initially, I focused on building my own apps. However, I've discovered that creating tailored business automation solutions is quicker and can address specific client issues. This allows me to integrate with a client's existing system. I've resolved automation issues related to multi-site, multi-service invoices (such as GFL, WM, Waste Connections, and other property service vendors such as plumbing, electrical, etc…), and I can fully automate this process, including a method to input invoice data into existing purchase ordering systems. I can program the AI model to your specific invoices and capture all related data. I can capture information for each charge, including associated information (such as weights, material, units, parts and other information can automatically be captured with Purchase Orders (PO). I can also automate more complex service invoices such as trailer transport services may need the vendor to follow a pre-defined invoicing format however major property/building service provider would not need to adjust their invoices. I have trained my own AI model and can train a model on a company’s invoices.
In addition, I can create a rule to automate certain notifications. For example, when an additional fee charge is invoiced, the system can automatically identify it and send an email to a specified address. This email notification could include program information, training materials and resources for a site management as it relates to the fee.
I am also capable of automating incoming service requests and scheduling between hauler and client, although this is a more complex automation and can be integrated depending on your system. However, this can reduce customer service support requirements by +80%.
