About Daryl DeRoche-Januszewski:

I've always enjoyed administrative duties.  My experience is diverse and includes retail customer service, data entry, communication (including training teams with verbal and written materials), and excellent problem-solving with creative thinking.  In 2009-15, I learned a lot from running a direct sales business (Avon) which helped me grow communication skills and learn a lot about finance, data entry and marketing.

FT Customer Service Associate, Admin. at Rona+

  • September 2019 - Present
  • For over 5 years, I've succeeded with many situations such as: solving complicated customer problems (de-escalation, listening skills), training and encouraging new hires, creating documents to streamline faster training, and taking on extra responsibilities (data entry) beyond the scope of my role, to help ensure the store remains profitable.   *I'm currently seeking a new opportunity to grow with a new company and continue to provide excellent administrative support and achieve results.

 

Sales Associate, entry level merchandise manager at Old Navy

  • August 2012 -September 2019 
  • Over 7 years, my roles included relationship-building with customers, product knowledge, cash handling, retail Loss Prevention training, merchandise management and handling difficult interactions. I grew a lot and took on higher roles over time (cash lead, merchandise manager). Spent half in Calgary and other half in Red Deer before moving over to Lowe's (now Rona+).

  • Ran my own home-based business, where I started by selling the beauty products, utilizing relationship-building and the felt/found technique.  I learned quickly how to market myself. Over time, I graduated into hiring and training new recruits, which helped build my confidence, leadership and communication skills.

  • LinkedIn (and Microsoft) learning, where through almost half a year of courses, I learned these skills:
  1. Administrative tasks, note-taking (meetings), scheduling

  4. Microsoft apps such as Outlook, Teams, Word, SharePoint,  and more.

 

Art of Cartooning at RDC (Red Deer College at the time)  2018

  • During this course, I learned (from a professional cartoonist) about the art of storytelling.  This translates into other disciplines, and helped build my confidence when I was creating a cartoon series at the time. 

 

Stratford Career Institute 2007-2009

  • Trained in artistic techniques and design, which helped greatly with my cartooning career.  In 2019, I got a cartoon series copyrighted for selling as merchandise on RedBubble, and other printing eCommerce sites.
  • Additionally, learned to master my creative traits helped me market myself while I ran a home-based business in Calgary (where I worked hard to stand out). 

 

James Fowler High School 2003-2006 

  • Activities and societies: Cheerleading Squad, Girls' Culture Club, Choir (briefly).  Helped me develop interpersonal skills and confidence. 
  • During holidays *after school and weekends, I volunteered with the Salvation Army Christmas Kettles.
