About David Andrews:

I’m a safety-focused public service professional currently working as a Conventional Bus Operator with Coast Mountain Bus Company, where I operate 40- and 60-foot buses in a fast-paced, highly regulated transit environment. My role demands constant situational awareness, sound judgement, and clear communication — whether navigating traffic and weather conditions, performing detailed vehicle inspections, or assisting passengers with professionalism and respect.

My career spans public transit, hospitality, security, and government service, giving me a well-rounded perspective on working with the public in safety-critical roles. Across these environments, I’ve been trusted to remain calm under pressure, de-escalate conflict, respond to emergencies, and apply policies consistently while still treating people with empathy and fairness.

Beyond technical skill, I take pride in how I show up to work. I believe public service means being reliable, approachable, and accountable — especially when you’re a visible representative of an organization. Colleagues and supervisors have relied on me for steady decision-making, clear reporting, and a professional demeanor, even in unpredictable situations.

Outside of work, I value discipline, continuous learning, and personal responsibility — principles that guide both my professional conduct and my interactions with others. Whether behind the wheel, supporting a team, or assisting the public, my goal is always the same: to do the job right, keep people safe, and leave things better than I found them.

Experience

I have a diverse background in public transit operations, safety and security, hospitality, and government services, with a consistent focus on public-facing, safety-critical roles. My experience includes operating 40- and 60-foot buses in a regulated transit environment, where responsibilities included safe vehicle operation, passenger assistance, daily inspections, incident response, and adherence to traffic laws and operational procedures.

In addition to transit work, I have held senior customer service and security positions in large hospitality environments, including roles as Head Concierge and Team Lead Security Officer. These positions required strong judgement, conflict de-escalation, emergency response, access control, staff training, and detailed incident reporting — often in high-pressure situations involving the public.

I have also worked within the Government of Canada as a Payment Services Officer, assisting the public with Employment Insurance matters. This role demanded accuracy, confidentiality, and the ability to clearly explain policies while managing high-volume inquiries in a compliance-driven setting.

Across my career, I’ve been trusted in roles that require professionalism, accountability, and calm decision-making under pressure. I bring a steady, service-oriented approach to my work, with a strong emphasis on safety, clear communication, and treating people with respect.

Education

I hold formal education in both technology and public safety, giving me a balanced foundation in structured thinking, systems awareness, and real-world risk management.

I earned a Diploma in Programmer Analyst / Internet Solutions from CDI College of Business and Technology, where I studied internet and web technologies. This background strengthened my analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work within structured systems and procedures — skills that translate well into regulated, policy-driven environments.

Earlier in my career, I completed a Diploma in Private Security Professional / Law Enforcement from Hilltop Security Academy. This program provided foundational training in legal authority, public safety responsibilities, and professional conduct in security and enforcement roles, forming the basis for my later work in safety-critical, public-facing positions.

Together, my education supports a practical, disciplined approach to work that emphasizes compliance, accountability, and sound judgement, especially in environments where safety and public trust are essential.
