Fire Department. (rural)

• Performing the duties of a full-time firefighter in extreme weather conditions.

• Providing enhanced EMR skills to a community of 8,000 people.

• Ability to implement lifesaving interventions for critical patients.

• First on scene to residential and commercial structure fires as well as motor vehicle accidents, extreme weather emergencies, hazardous material incidents and technical rescue calls.

• Operating a variety of fire suppression and rescue equipment.

• Skilled donning and doffing when assessing or transferring covid-19 positive patients.

• Provide medical and emergency stand-by services 24/7.

• Driving/ pumping fire engine, driving the ambulance daily (class 4 and class 3 with air break endorsement).

• Texas Commission on Fire Protection – Structural Fire Fighter 1, NFPA 1001

• Texas Commission on Fire Protection – Structural Fire Fighter 2, NFPA 1001

• Texas Commission on Fire Protection – Hazardous Materials Operations, NFPA 472

• Emergency medical responder- EMR – Justice Institute of British Columbia

• Basic life support - BLS

• Canadian Red Cross – First responder and CPR – Basic life support.

• Class 5 drivers’ licence – Clean driver abstract.

• Naloxone training certificate.

• Class 4 drivers’ licence – Work each shift on an ambulance as an EMR

• Class 3 licence with Air Brake endorsement

• Red pass with D/A – for airport access (Iqaluit international airport).

• Airside Vehicle Operator Permit (AVOP).

• University of Manitoba – 36 credits, Bachelor of Arts – Major in anthropology, minor in history.  Finishing online after career decision to play in the CFL.
