Faustina Chui

I am currently enrolled in the joint major program for Beedie and Economics at SFU. My goal is to become an actuary or statistician after completing my degree. Outside of school, I have been an active participant in the Air Cadet program for six years. I have competed in bowling, worked at Ugg and Kumon, and worked as a private tutor. I am proud to have received the Lord Strathcona Award, which is the highest award bestowed on a cadet, and to have placed second in an American-led bowling competition. Additionally, I earned the title of best salesperson of the week at UGG. Some of my hobbies include reading, running, playing tennis and basketball, watching F1 races, and learning about car mechanics. I work hard to lessen the financial pressure on my family and to be able to treat them. I am a hardworking individual who values bringing a sense of family to everyone around me, including my biological family, friends, and coworkers.

My internship at Vancouver Fashion Week has given me knowledge of fashion that others may not have. Additionally, reaching out to others around the world about fashion has expanded my vision and understanding of both the world and others.

I have previously worked extensively in the food and beverage industry. This experience taught me how to communicate effectively with my team members during busy times and adapt to an ever-changing environment. It also expanded my comfort zone and enabled me to take more initiative when interacting with both customers and coworkers.

Furthermore, I have experience working as a sales associate. This taught me how to handle complaints and difficult customers. Additionally, my experience has taught me that working with others yields greater results than working alone. Working environments that require teamwork have taught me that you learn a lot more when working with others.

Currently, I am studying Neuroscience; however, I have realized that my true passion lies in mathematics and economics. Therefore, I am planning to transfer to the business and economics joint major offered at my school. After graduation, I aspire to become an actuary, statistician, or economist. I believe that these professions will allow me to assist others by providing meaning to their money and helping them manage it more efficiently.
