Dr. Ganesh Shermon is a distinguished Human Resources and Organizational Behavior professional with extensive global experience in consulting, leadership, research, and higher education. A former Partner and India Country Head – People & Change Advisory, KPMG LLP, and currently the Founding Partner at Advisory Channels Inc., Toronto, he has shaped human capital strategies and organizational transformations across continents and industries. With over two decades of senior leadership experience spanning North America, Europe, and Asia, Dr. Shermon has led large-scale transformations in human capital management, leadership development, talent strategy, workforce planning, and cultural change. His consulting acumen combines behavioral insights with data-driven HR solutions, enabling organizations to realign people, processes, and performance in times of change.
Experience
As Founding Partner of Advisory Channels Inc. and a consultant with Schooley Mitchell Inc., both based in Toronto, Dr. Shermon leads a human capital consulting practice specializing in leadership development, organizational design, psychometrics, and change management. His work integrates behavioral science with strategic HR to design assessment tools, executive coaching programs, and leadership pipelines. He advises clients across financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, and technology sectors, helping them achieve workforce agility and cultural renewal while optimizing human capital strategies and organizational performance.
Earlier, as Partner and Country Head of People & Change Advisory at KPMG LLP, Dr. Shermon built and led one of India’s most respected HR consulting practices and served on the KPMG Global Steering Committee. He directed hundreds of client engagements across banking, financial services, insurance, real estate, manufacturing, and government sectors. Among his notable clients were BMO, BNP, Brookfield, Cargill, Disney, HDFC Bank, Pfizer, Sun Life, Syngenta, the University of British Columbia, and the World Bank. His work focused on leadership development, HR transformation, merger integration, and cultural change. Within KPMG’s consulting practice, he specialized in behavioral change, workforce planning, performance management, assessment centers, and leadership coaching, helping organizations navigate complexity through structured behavioral and analytic frameworks.
Prior to KPMG, Dr. Shermon held senior leadership roles at Andersen Business Consulting, Arvind, Unilever, and Citibank. In these organizations, he implemented competency-based HR systems, developed performance management frameworks, and led several change and culture transformation initiatives. He was among the early adopters of HR technology platforms such as SAP HR, Oracle HRMS, and Workday, integrating technology into HR processes to drive strategic decision-making and workforce analytics.
Education
Dr. Shermon holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Theory from M.S. University, a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from XLRI Jamshedpur, and has completed the Advanced Management Program at the MIT Sloan School of Management in the United States.
He is a certified trainer in MBTI through Psychometrics Canada and an accredited practitioner by KPMG LLP in psychometric tools including MBTI, Thomas Kilmann, 16 PF, BEI, and assessment and coaching methodologies. Dr. Shermon is also a professional member of the American Psychological Association and serves as a Ph.D. advisor in Organizational Behavior and Leadership.
A prolific author and researcher, Dr. Shermon has published widely on subjects related to human capital and leadership. Some of his most influential works include Competency Based HRM, Digital People Organization: Disrupting HR, Psychometrics for Leadership: Time for Testing, Digital Cultures: Age of the Intellect, and Competency Based Assessment Development Center. His research focuses on competency mapping, assessment and development centers, digital transformation, and leadership culture and has been cited in over two hundred academic works worldwide.
An accomplished scholar and thought leader, Dr. Shermon has authored more than twenty books and over three hundred and fifty published articles in leading journals including IIM Management Review, XLRI Journal of Labor Studies, and Vikalpa. His works on competency-based HRM, psychometrics, digital transformation, and organizational culture are widely cited and incorporated into management curricula. His research contributions continue to influence HR theory and practice globally.
His contributions have earned him several recognitions, including the AICAB Award for his research paper “Valuing Human Resources.” He has been named among the “500 Leaders of Influence in the 20th Century” by the American Biographical Association and featured in The International Who’s Who of Professions and Heritage Who’s Who.
